http://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/support/X99A-SLI-Krait-Edition.html#support-ocmem
CMK16GX4M4A2666C15 2666 2666 1.2V
CMK16GX4M4A2666C15 (Profile2) 2800 2800 1.35V

So according to this page the ram should work on 2666 mhz, but not with the Profile 1, its manual setting I guess. Any idea on what those settings are? Just manual change it to 2666 mhz with 1,2v and go?! ph34r-smiley.gif
And should also work on 2800 mhz with profile 2, but then I guess I need to set blc(?) to 125 which I know is not advised.

Yesterday I made sure the blck was set to 100, set the ram speed to 2666, set xmp profile 1 (2666), and ram volt to 1.3v (both banks). Have been stable as far as I have seen, except Realbench. While I were away from the computer I had Realbench result in a reboot, but I am not sure why, since I werent at the computer. Realbench sadly is not the a very stable program, and it may just have been the 'normal' crash-after-finished case, or a Luxmark bug.

Also had a case of Realbench crashing/buging, and bugging out Win10, resulting in a black screen could move mouse and some, had to do a couple reboots for it to work properly with sound messages in the background (windows explemations?). I think realbench messed up the gfx driver. Seeing several driver error messages in event logger. I am more and more skeptical to Realbench, which also has crashed on me while the machine was stock speeds, while not a single problem other then that while running the machine for like 2 months, with a lot of gaming. So I do not place a lot of trust in Realbench, sadly.

Did 2 Aida64 stress teste for close to half an hour each time, also a few shorter ones, no problems. Been playing for a few hours, also no problems. Windows/boot ram check has also not resulted in finding errors. But once I ran the Win10 ram test, with the option to restart now, the machine didnt boot properly, not sure why, had to use the reset button. No problems with normal restartes or cold boots. Think it was a windows bug.

At first I tried with lower volts, but did not get into windows at 1.25 or below, so I jumped to 1.3. Have not tried between 1.25 and 1.3. Guess it does not matter much, the ram has a XMP profile 2 that sets the ram to 1.35, so I should be well inside safe area, and the difference in heat from maybe 0,03 lower volt I guess is minimal...

It should work, there's no reason why it wouldn't.

Yes I originally put it in slot 3. Does not see the drive at all. Once 2 cards are bridged lane 3 is dead. In motherboard explorer it shows the first 3 lanes as nvidia geforce.

And yes slot 5 is out of the question for the M.2, there's usually a bandwidth share on X99 boards, at least with MSI, so that if that slot is in use it switches to the chipset lanes

Same with the gpus apparently.

I know it sucks but move your card up. Its watercooled, it doesnt need the extra space for cooling. I

While I was out I ran a new 1h 33m Aida64 stress test, all good. I do notice that this test for some reason produce less heat then for example Realbench. Maybe because Realbench use more components...

Yep, still getting USB detect issues on the VIA USB3.0 ports intermittently, hanging at 9C BIOS POST code.

Before it was my USB hub which I had a webcam plugged into so i plugged the webcam and keyboard that was in the hub directly into the motherboard thinking it was the USB hub.

Then it did it again with the webcam and I thought aha! So i replaced that.

Now it just did it again and it's the keyboard. Nice and random.

So yeah going to get the motherboard replaced again, I didnt think it was any of my devices as I'd run the first motherboard for a month with no USB issues at all.

I've been searching for the damn picture with all of the available pci lanes for this motherboard. The whole point of me buying a 40lane cpu was so I could have the ability to run 2 x16 cards, while having the m2 running at x4 and an intel 750 running at it's native x4 speed as well.

Unfortunately pci slot 3 is cancelled out when running two cards in 1 and 4 which really is the only other place you can put the intel drive. Once you shove anything in pci 5 it slows down the m2 to x2. While the random reads and writes don't seem to be affected at all the 4k read and write speed take a huge performance hit on the m2.

I'm a little bummed about it, I'm not about to strip the system down and watercool the gpu's just to get them a slot closer to each other at x8 as I feel some other bs will pop up as a hurdle and at this point I think I've spent enough money on this build.

I did manage to overclock the machine to 4.2Ghz at 1.3 volts but it was just running too hot for comfort, it's easily running all of the ram at pc 3000 per it's XMP profile while bumping the cpu to 3.7 so I can't really complain. The system benches great still, but those major reads and writes would've been done while using photoshop and premiere.

Hence my disappointment there really isn't any solution to my predicament.

I run three cards & if I had the 5820K, my M.2 would run @ 3x4, but since I have a 40 lane CPU, it will run @ 2.0 speed. I actually took a card out & blamed looped cleaning to test this theory. M.2 Cancels SATA 5 & 6 as well...

Once again the 5820K wins.... 5820K owners ----> tongue.gif

Are you running fast boot? it doesn't read USB's upon startup then. Might help.

Anyone know how to disable the USB 3.1 on the X99A SLI Plus? My gpus will only read at x8 and not x16. I cant find the option in the BIOS anywhere. And even a single card is only reading at x8. This board is becoming quickly annoying

I don't think there's any options to disable individual USB controllers however USB 3.1 shouldnt affect the connectivity of graphics cards as the GPU's are wired into the CPU PCI-E 3.0 lanes and USB 3.1 controller runs off the chipset PCI-E 2.0 lanes.

What GPU's are you using and how many?

When you try a single card which PCI-E slot is it in?

Oh, what CPU too
