single 290.

That's the thing. I would have thought it really shouldn't be necessary to lower any of the settings when I've gotten 7970's in crossfire. There are more demanding games than BF4 for sure. Lowering AA doesn't seem to help either though.

To put it simply two 7970's will not be stressed by BF4 @ 1080p. That being said your loads should not be uneven, reinstall your drivers, disable ulps and unlock unofficial overclocking.

Good Luck!

My loads are now even after disabling ULPS but still hover around 65% on the complicated maps like Siege of Shanghai. I've noticed that GPU loads on simpler maps like Golmud Railway are a little higher. What does unlocking unofficial overlocking do?

90c degrees obviously could throttle, set the factory clocks and check id the fps drops as before(compare both frames and fps)

I put them back to stock at stock voltages and I am still getting 66-70% load on the complex maps and FPS hasn't changed. VRAM temps were around 70-75 degrees at stock.

Again if the performance is fine gpu and cpu usage is meaningless

i am not asking you to lower all the settings. Keep everything in Ultra but if you are using 4MSAA - try 2. like i said, you might be hitting the VRAM limit. As a matter of fact, you can play with the resolution scale. try 130%.

do you mind running this bench?

use stretched mode.

Performance is not bad but seems to be lacking. Some maps I can get 90+ FPS, others I get around 65-70 and would drop to 40-50 on occasion. I just thought that two 7970's while playing on 1080P would max this game out at 100FPS no issues.

Yeah I'll run that bench and report back with results. I thought this game would only use around 2GB of VRAM maxed out and I've got 3.

look at the screenie in post #10. pretty much every map that's how much i get in vram. play with the resolution scale. try 130%, that's what i use and it pegs my 290 pretty much at 99% usage. the 290, though, is slower than your gpus. if you can clock the cpu a bit higher and see how it goes. for now, keep it at the current speed, so to avoid anymore issues.

make sure your power saving features are turned off like C1E in bios.

Shouldn't the game just work as intended without disabling so many things? I have played with the resolution scale at 130% and while GPU usage does go up to the high 90's my performance took a good hit so I left it at 100.

Here's my score from 3D Mark. Its good right? GPU's were at full load throughout the GPU tests.

Here are some screenshots taken in game. You'll see the low GPU usages and the high VRAM usage.
