[Microcenter] Winbook TW801 $139, WInbook TW100 $199

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet, wInbook seems to be a microcenter brand...The 8 inch seems comparable to the Dell venue pro 8 and they have a 10 inch version as well for 60 more dollars. Both come with a full USB 3.0 port IPS displays.... ms office.... I am tempted to pick up the 8 inch version to play around with.

I was actually considering one of the Windows 8.1 tablets now that some of the cheaper ones are hitting sub $200. Good find, I live only 15 minutes from a Microcenter

If the 8 inch is anything like the DV8P, it should be awesome!

I really want to give my Venue 8 Pro to my sis and pick up one of these for the USB3.0 and the Micro HDMI port.

I'm very interested in the WinBook TW801 if it can be re-configured to use any version of Linux, preferably LUbuntu or XUbuntu. Does anyone have links to sources that describe how to use WinBook TW801 with Linux?

It's not likely people will actually pay money to use Windows 8 even if MicroCenter only charges $139. Windows 8 is counter-productive. I've removed Windows 8 from every computer and laptop in my organization. But if we could use this TW801 platform for Linux, then it would be very worthwhile to spend $139. I'm a software developer & web developer. The TW801 would make it convenient to remote into my servers and keep track of systems. Cheers.

You can install any OS you want on it, it's not locked.

I picked one of these up (10") version and promptly returned it a few days later. The battery life was atrocious compared to any tablet I have ever used. I browsed the web on a fairly low brightness (<40%) for about an hour and a half and it dropped close to 50%, when I tried hearthstone on it, 30 minutes of play drained nearly 70% of the battery, and It takes eons to charge. I wont even get into the issues of no physical keyboard when in desktop mode. Is it a bad product? Not exactly. I would highly recommend a android tablet over this particular device.

Might of been something wrong with your battery. Mine last MUCH longer than that, and I use it for hearthstone also. They do sell a case with a keyboard and trackpad for the 10in model.

edit: I was planning on playing hearthstone so I just checked after playing for an hour Im now at 68% charge, while I was about 93% before. Which is pretty good.
