Apple made a big deal of the number of transistors in the latest A8 chipset at the announcement event. Now we're sure it will run things smooth on the new Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus even if its GPU may not bring gaming graphics to the next level. Now however we learn the two devices won't be the multitasking monsters you might expect - according to early reviews of the devices both share the same limited 1GB of RAM.
Wow guys ... if they include 1 gigabyte that means it's all they think it needs... I mean do you even care if you have 1 or 2 if you user experience is always 10 of 10. So android phones have 3 gigs of ram does it makes them better NO???

Is that really a Ram issue or poor coding on Safari?
I regularly have 30 apps in my dashboard one of which is chrome with 20-35 tabs open. I checked my Logs and I don't have a single memory low alert on my 5C
For someone like me that has lots of tabs open all the time on my browser it can be an issue, even with 2GB devices (some of which is already reserved for the graphics portion of the SoC, moreso with higher res devices).
That's before multitasking with more than one apps or even worse having two of them running @ split screen. Probably not an issue with iOS.
It is not like I had many chances going for an iPhone 6+ (doubt I can downsize after getting the Note II - which by the way looks like 6+'s "cousin" and has - guess Samsung got the 6+'s blueprints in those emails and copied them few years before), but that could be annoying for those getting it.
Well, most of them that will here in the states, are current 4 & 5 owners, less likely 5S, so they will be amazed by the bigger screens and speed on either of the 6 line.
Then the 6S will come with more RAM and claim to reinvent the wheel, that they've consulted with time keeper experts to match (again) the clock precision any modern cellphone or computer has etc etc.
Doesn't matter. They don't have to revolutionize everything - they know how to pick the best ideas, improve on them (or not) and repackage them in something desirable (I won't say beautiful, that's subjective, apple being desirable as a status symbol regardless of aesthetics is objective) and make a mint out of.
And there is little way to convince the average Apple buyer who wants to buy "in" this culture of "exclusivity" that their iPhone is not "the best possible".
Even if there is some dissonance after purchasing, since we are rarely "in deer need" of all the features, we just cope.

you really don't have 20-35 tabs open. Maybe 3 of them are actually loaded, the rest are just place holders - sort of a "bookmarked" tab. The others have to actually redownload and process the page when you open the tab.

OS isn't actually keep all 20+ tabs open and most of the tabs are actually not in memory. They are either paged to storage or application will re-initiate page request... depending on specific implementation of the software.
i.e. On a Windows desktop with 4GB RAM, trying opening up like 2GB worth of browsers and then start up a 3GB game. The system shouldn't complain about low memory but if you try ALT+TAB between everything, you should notice a delay. The OS sees that the browser memory pages are not currently in use but sees an incoming request for more memory, so it moves those browser memory pages to disk.

Really don't be ram freaks I am sure If Apple felt the need to bump the ram up to 2 they would do it.. You are upset because you can't have 30 tabs open at the same time on a mobile phone... I mean.. really? Try to actually use it sometimes it's pretty good.

1GB in my iPhone 5 runs smooth as butter and never runs into lag or slow downs , can't say the same about 2GB Android devices I've used. Specs aren't everything!

I find it pathetic that of all the same critics bashing NOTE 3 for its "big size" are the same ones praising iPhone 6 plus for its size. I feel like I'm in some sort of twilight zone.

I've really enjoyed my time with the Nexus 4 and have disliked the current trend in size. I wanted a phone that doesn't sacrifice in performance relative to where I'm at but maintains this size, with a more pure, no carrier bloat experience.

You can have 100 apps in your dashboard when they are all frozen.
The same with chrome it only remembers those addresses and will reload each one every time.
I have only Safari opened with 3 tabs and I'm on one site and go to the next tab it will reload.
Let's not lie to ourselves 1gb is not enough and we are in 2014 and iPhones are not cheap.
Guys, I gotta admit something here--I despise Apple fanboy-ism as much as the next guy, in fact, it drives me nuts!--But I got to admit one thing, my iPhone 5 runs smoother and more stable than my Samsung Galaxy S3 (I have a S3 for personal use, and an iPhone from work). I dislike the the smaller screen size, but iOS has been the better performer in my experience. With that said, it'll be interesting to see whether the 1GB of RAM impacts the performance of the iPhone 6's.
