Zotac 970? - Page 23

While the top part of the HSF may block more air the usual, the shroud isn't overly different from most AIB cards. It shouldn't be that much of an issue as there's plenty of space where the shroud doesn't cover to push the air out from under the fans/hs. There's probably a truckload of TIM, a memory thermal pad could be partially folded squished, and lots of thing's to cause temp issues aside from a bad design; not to rule out that it could just be a bad design. Reports on average seem to be fine for temps (similar to other tier AIB cards) on the Omega from what I've seen. The only way you're really going to get an answer is re-seating/repasting the card, and if not I'd just flat out return it. Not much sense in twiddling our thumbs on the issue thumb.gif

I'm not willing to take the zotac apart as it's still under warranty and i don't want to jeopardize its return.
The ACX 2.0 is massive bruh.

And my customer's 970 is running 30C delta over ambient in a case thumb.gif

I posted a wall of text a few pages back about what I think is a flawed shroud design in the zotac 970's. Basically the exhaust is totally blocked by the side of the shroud and the heat sink find are lined up the wrong way. I had similar temp problems and ended up returning my card to wait for something better.

Just so you know, with my GPU fans on full (280x turboduo) I don't feel any air coming out the sides thumb.gif

And no they are not on the wrong way, GB cards are also oriented like that for packaging reasons

So where do you feel the air coming out of the card? Only at the rear of the case? If so, then I think I am right about the bad design because the fins are vertical. So if you don't feel the air coming out the sides, that means the shroud is blocking it. The fans they have on the cooler is not high pressure type. So I don't think it was pushing enough air out because the shroud blocking the side. Of course I returned the card now so I can't check it out anymore.

Yes, the gigabyte card also have vertical fins but the shroud doesn't cover the sides. It's wide open and the card is a lot longer therefore lower temperature. For such a short card, Zotac should have done horizontal fins to allow a lot more air to go out the back. And allow front case fans to blow through the heatsink to help with cooling.

I'm pretty sure it's just your bad luck wink.gif
The opposite side of the 970 omega is uncovered but the GB is also covered in the center just like the omega wink.gif

What's the normal temps of this card? I got 77 degrees on STOCK in heaven. I'm scared.

This OC+ is more of a pain in the butt than it is any good.
