Non-Reference GTX 980 - Page 40

when ln2 benching ram overclocks can affect the core overclocks pretty drastically, so i see why vince is hovering around that area for the mem.

lol what on system memory? First I've seen of it tongue.gif Should easily be able to squeeze more out of that without giving the cpu any trouble at all. Anyway not like it matters evidently, that's the point

What is the point.

Graphics cards for gaming and GPU computing applications. You might as well go bench who can go stack the most grains of sand the highest since both are equally pointless activities.

Increasing performance is fine, but that is not usable performance whatsoever.

Let's not get into this discussion again.

My post was serious. It seems like some kind of psychiatric disorder to me creating unusable performance by dumping liquid nitrogen on a processor in a home and not continuously cooled server environment. It's like the equivalent of something you see in the movie Rainman where he likes to dump pennies on the ground and count them for no reason.

Unless you plan to keep the processor cooled with liquid nitrogen 24/7, it's unusable performance and completely pointless.

I think most LN2 cooling is pretty pointless as far as day to day performance goes. It's cool though to show what the CPU is capable of, but unless you're able to re-condense the LN2 and recycle it, it's like vaporizing money.

So I agree with you to an extent my fellow insect brethren, even if you're a cockaroach! (In tony montana accent).

Unfortunately, his ridiculousness has been branching out of the mouse subforum into others. It is getting quite sad now :(.

Hi guys, I am currently building a new watercooled rig, and I need your advices!
My main use will be gaming, and I am looking for the best possible mono-GPU setup.
I do not plan on doing extreme overclocking. I just want to reach the best frequencies that can be obtained with watercooling, with mild voltage increase (custom bios if necessary), and play hours long without compromising too much the graphic card components.

For this purpose, would this GTX 980 classified be overkill?

If yes, what is the best option? Reference card with waterblock? custom card with hypothetical waterblock, which one ?

Thanks a lot for your help! thumb.gif
