MSI couldn't release the 780 Ti to the public because Nvidia's Greenlight program wouldn't let them release unlocked cards, that's Nvidia's fault. Evga just ignored that because they only make Nvidia cards, so they get some special treatment from Nvidia.

As for MSI not releasing the 980 Lightning, I would say it wasn't worth their time. Evga did it anyways because they are Nvidia specific OEM, if they don't push their products based on Nvidia's new design, they'll go out of business, while Msi has more sales because they also sell AMD cards, so they can choose to be picky.

They were picky over the 780 Ti Lightning as well then...I wouldn't give them half as much credit EVGA. They're a much bigger faceless corporation and the 290x Lightning PCB is a complete waste of time having the extra phases when they're throttling the amperage regardless.

The 780GTX Lightning was the last proper card in the line up.

From EVGA_JacobF: "I will double check on Europe availability, for US we may have initial (limited) availability starting end of this month. Europe should be similar but I will confirm."

The only thing they did wrong with the 290X L, is that you had to do a hardmod to not get a black screen while benching at higher volts. Its sad you have to void the warranty for proper LN2 usage, same as Asus. Sad that Evga doesn't do AMD.

Everything else is fine.

What Amperage throttling are you talking about.?
Remember briefly reading something about it on OCUK.

Lol, that made me laugh a bit.

I mean, it's easy to see why though, right?

So what is the estimated price on these when they finally come out? 2nd question. If I only plan on water cooling and pushing a 24/7 stable overclock vs bench, is there really any reason to wait if I can manage to find an EVGA card and just spend the extra towards water blocks?

Limited amount released... Hopefully the Ti is released by January, then I don't know if I'll have to bother with a Classified GTX 980 standard. Hmm Mumble mumble....

What do you guys think? Think any stock of these will be left by January? Think something better will be out?

I see why, but....

I mean they already charge a premium for the Lightning/Classified cards over the regular cards.

Adding an option like Intel to buy an additional $20-30 warranty to get a one time replacement would be awesome.

That's what EVGA is for.

I had a water cooled GTX480 that just died one day. They replaced it no questions asked - just inspected it to make sure it wasn't water damage.

Those 980 classy's on ebay are being sold by some...well not so friendly sellers.
I can read Chinese too, so I don't get why some sellers are being genitalia about it tongue.gif
1) He wants the questions to be in Chinese
2) He won't sell to OCN hahah.
3) Auto-playing dailymotion vids - really? :/

It's like hey - I want negative publicity.

*Hmm on second thought, maybe not a legit listing? I dunno - still funny to me haha.
