Hi Guys,

I ended up buying one for $100 a few months ago, and its pretty much been a permanent dust collector since then. The only game I plan on getting is Xenoblade Chronicles X. I couldn't care less about Nintendo exclusive games. I grew out of most the Nintendo IPs the moment I hit puberty.

The only game I got for it currently is Monster Hunter 3U. I thought I might like the game, but I ended up hating it. The controls are as clunky as I've seen in any game I've played in recent years. If the controls were smoother and more free flowing and responsive, such as in a game like Dark Souls, then I'd like the game better.

If you enjoy the Wii then there's more of a similar type of fun in the Wii U.

I probably play ours more than the PS4, MK8 is certainly addicting.

The screen controller is a nice touch as you can exclusively play the game on the pad while watching TV or similar, or you can simply change inputs and broadcast it to the TV on the fly.

That's a pretty negative sentiment...

I love my Wii U and I wouldn't want any other console. I grew up with the NES. I love the Nintendo characters and universe. Any good games for the other consoles, I can play on my computer anyway. A lot of the games are family friendly and are great multiplayer games.

The Wii U has developed to have a very solid library of games, getting one now you won't find any shortage of good games to play on it, all with a very high fun factor and lots of replayability. The argument that it doesn't have enough good games is pretty much moot now.

* New Super Mario Bros U and New Super Luigi U (I got the bundle that came with these)
* Super Mario 3D World (the best 3D mario game ever, practically)
* Mario Kart 8
* Hyrule Warriors
* Bayonetta 2 (which also comes with Bayonetta 1)
* Wii Party U (great with friends and family if you have enough Wiimotes)
* Sonic All-stars Racing Transformed
* Child of Light
* Nintendo Land

Those are just some of the games I have that I considered great, some of them are on other systems too.

Games that are coming out in the future:

* Zelda U
* Xenoblade Chronicles X (I bought my Wii U almost solely for this, Mario Kart and Super Mario 3D World)
* Yoshi's Wooly World
* Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

There's a few more than that but most of them are multiplatform.

The Gamepad controller is pretty cool. At first I thought it was gimmicky and I didn't like it. Now I realize it's what sets the system apart from other consoles. There's some innovative stuff being done for it, like the 2 player gamepad-only games in Wii Party U. In a lot of games that are multiplatform it adds to the gameplay by providing a HUD (for example, in Unepic it acts like a hotkey bar essentially for easy item use so you don't have to open the menu.)

If you like the Wii, you'll probably like the Wii U. Graphics don't make a game. Fun factor and creativity does. You can tell that the developers at Nintendo really love what they do, and want to make their games as good and as fun as possible.

Another plus is most games running at 1080P 60fps, it seems to be a big news thing lately that the PS4 and Xbone can't do 1080p 60 fps, and in some cases they can't even do 1080p 30 fps. A bunch of new games for those systems are coming out and are capped at 30 fps. Well, most of the first party games for Wii U do 1080p 60 fps, and on hardware that's maybe 1/4th as powerful. wink.gif They look great and they run smooth 100% of the time.

Its a truthful statement with regards to me personally. At some point in time I put down Nintendo games, and moved onto shooters like Doom/Quake, or fighting games like Mortal Kombat and Street fighter. Nintendo has a place in the market because they're kid friendly, when Sony and MS are both targeting adult gamers. Maybe if Nintendo would make a solid system with respectable specs, and get plenty of 3rd party support then core gamers might take their systems seriously.

Gamecube had a solid system with the best hardware and plenty 3rd party games. That didnt help them much, did it?

Coming from a nintendo fan here, who dropped out when wii launched, and started gaming on PC. What i feel now is 80% of games are generic shooters, generic fight games, generic everything.
Games are repetitive, not to mention the same game launched every year with a different title (im talking to you assassins creed, but not the only one).

now i have a decent PC, im able to play most games @1080p60fps, but i find myself playing emulators more than anything. dont get me wrong, i have over 300h on Bf4, fifa etc., playing evil within, shadow of mordor etc, but the most fun i have is when i gather my friends to play Mario kart 64, mario party etc. Thats why im considering coming back to nintendo consoles afterall. too bad its too expensive here.

If you want a console with decent local multiplayer games(which as a pc gamer is the main reason to have a console), the wii u is the best choice. Also, mario kart 8 is great, super smash wii u will be great, zelda... there are honestly some amazing exclusives on this system.

Mario kart 8 is a riot when you get 4 people playing all at once.
Also new super mario bros U is very good in a group setting as well.

One thing I enjoy about the wii U is that you can basically replace your Wii with the WiiU, and all of your accessories and games can still be used and played.
So the only thing you are replacing is the console itself.

Smash is awesome as well on the 3ds, so I am sure it will be even better on the WiiU.
If you want it and you enjoy the Wii, then I would highly recommend the WiiU.

I picked up my WiiU as a refurbished unit directly from nintendo, and honestly if you put it in a regular box, I wouldn't have known it was a refurb.
Unlike game shops, this comes with 1 year warranty directly from nintendo, so you are covered in that department.
https://store.nintendo.com/ng3/browse/productDetailColorSizePicker.jsp?productId=prod150200

Worth the 200.

My 4 year old and I play the wiiU a LOT. After he's been asleep for hours I'm still on the thing. Best Nintendo product I've ever owned... and I used to subscribe to Nintendo Power... 25 years ago...
