Yeah... But people have money to spend, plus there was a lot of "change your PC and receive (insert money sum here) off, valid for your next PC!" campaigns those last month

Indeed.

I always thought that weight was a criteria of good quality biggrin.gif (CPU cooler: 798 grams, the whole G5: 20.5 kg)
I liked Apple when they innovated, back then... *sigh*

You would be amazed by the number of people trowing away their PC because "it doesn't work anymore..." Sometimes it's because it's too dusty, but the most come from a fried component, mainly the HDD, or the PSU biggrin.gif

Just try it one day, perhaps you'll find something interesting!

I see you have 4 PowerMac G5s or Pro cases stored there. You've joined @Gardnerphotos in that exclusive club.

Haha good eyes! Yup I have 4 G5 in my room, 2 in my cave and 1 as my Hackintosh (see my first build).

I bought one of the G5 300km from my house, and then I went to search it by train and bus and foot... All I can say about it is that they weight a ton!!!

I can't just let them go poke.gif
IT IS MADE OF 3MM THICK ANODIZED ALUMINIUM!!! And the have a nice design...
So I use them as decorations wheee.gifkookoo.gif

Gardnerphotos has nice builds, really nicer than mine, he's a true artist.
I have modded one of the case as my first build, but it is really messy redface.gif

BUT!!!
I also plan to make another G5 mod, keeping the case style and also the interior.
Watercooled? Of course! but with nickel tubing...
Just waiting the money to begin it biggrin.gif

SECOND UPDATE

It is only a small update... I really don't have a lot of time this week thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Pictures of the GPU cooler and GPU dismantle (see third post)

The real reason behind this update is that I need your opinion guys rolleyes.gif

Knowing that the motherboard will be on a bench-like case, what should I do? (if removed, some minor modifications would be made on the connectors)

1. Keep the PCIe bracket
2.Remove the PCIe bracket

Here is pictures with and without it:

Share your thoughts until the 18 October

Keep it unless you plan to put a cover on all of those caps.

I'd consider replacing the stock PCI bracket with some other sort of decorative panel.

Pretty good weekend. I was able to start talking to companies about sponsoring my science fair project, as well as having a nice get together with some friends. thumb.gif I can't wait to see how this build turns out.biggrin.gif
