Well, I'm starting to overclock now. Rough going, I'm attempting to find a solution to vDroop at the moment but I think I'm making progress.

I'm also getting around to putting together a list of tools and materials to make my own psu cables and sleeve them, which should clean up the inside of the rig really nice. I have to decide on wire/sleeve color now.

I'll probably end up trying out 2 of my 850 Evo ssds in a raid 0 for fun before they go into the server. If that goes well... They might not make it into the server tongue.gif

Godaveri might also find a way to this rig.

RIP Deepthought.

A few months ago, in the process of overclocking, I booted to a black screen. Killed all power to the system, pulled the BIOS battery, you name it I tried it. I haven't RMA'd the board and APU yet, but I have another rig (still deepthought in my sig, needs a new name.)

If, however, anyone has questions about kaveri, I'll try to help, so you can still post here. I'll end up bringing it back as something else when I RMA everything.

Please keep us informed regarding your MSI. This MBd looks great on paper yet, far too few reviews, evaluations and overclocking examples exist for me to be comfortable buying it.

Well, I haven't run it through RMA yet, so it has sat without its bios battery in for a few months. I'm actually going to power it up tomorrow (later today I guess actually, 1:25 am sunday here for me) and I'll see how it goes. I'll definitely post the result. I just grabbed another set of crucial ballistix sport for a total of 16 gigs (4x4Gb).

What I can tell you, is that looking around now some people seem to have gotten some better ideas about kaveri overclocking. I may have run into an issue where I had the features I was looking for, and MSI decided to call them completely strange things. Anyway, I'll keep you posted. I'm not sure I'll be overclocking it this time around, but I might just for fun.

IT LIVVVEESS!!!

I turned it on, it posted, and I can get into the BIOS. So, I have to grab an OS and get it on there, and setup my SSD raid if I'm still going to do that. I'm convinced I just messed up somewhere with the prior OC and black screened it, but it wouldn't come back. I didn't think to do a BIOS reset and pull the battery at that point, silly me!

Deepthought shall live on! As my home server, running a VPN server, Teamspeak server, and I'm sure some other mundane task I'll find. Now with MOAR RAM! I also doubled ram, it is now 4x4 GB of crucail ballistix sport 1600MHz.

I'm quite happy about this, now to decide to either revamp this build log, or start a new one.

Is there anything in particular you want to know? I'll give it a shot for you if I can.

The primary question I have is true phase count of this and the ATX A88X-G45. Much disappointment by owners to date.
