DPI Marketing Works... - Page 8

The Red Dragon is just another G600 / Naga clone with 8200 * 2 = "16400" DPI sensor, basically cheaper / inferior version of the products it is trying to emulate. Logitech G600 has superior software options for starters. The mice themselves are very neat though, I wouldn't think of using 3D editing without the G600, it's too useful for changing between views.

I think that DPI itself is mostly a marketing gimmick - a lot of the numbers just don't do too much justice when there are other factors which make a sensor good / bad - but I also am not in the camp of "800 DPI or bust" junkies. I don't play CS or whatever, slight movement brings the cursor from one end to another - and that's good for me. Maybe not pixel perfect, but isometric games with a lot of screen panning favor the people who can be swift with their camera controls, and high DPI helps even if you have good sense of using the minimap. The G502 fits the bill for me, though it might be too heavy for low DPI users.

Back in 2002 DPI is kind of big deal, I remember when I bought MX500 everyone was like OMG 800 DPI!!

Yep I can still remember when the Lachesis came out with 4000 CPI, everyone was shocked

MX500 couldn't do 800. It was 400 and did some weird interpolation with the setpoint software to reach 800.

I watched a video somewhere and the guy in it said the microsoft intelli mice where bad because they had low cpi
And then proceeded to hail the Sensei (11k cpi version) as the coming of Christ

Now if you don't like the intelli mice, that is fine, they have low malfunction speed, we know that, but we also know how accurate their sensors are
The same, if you like the Sensei, that is fine, it has a pretty nice shape, but we all know that having 11k cpi is(nigh)useless, and it has hardware accel

Not to mention that the 11400cpi setting is mcu doubled and can't target half the pixels on the display

It could do 800 DPI.

Setpoint was required to trigger the alternative 800 DPI registry. (6/11 setting in software).

The sensor architecture itself was designed for 800 DPI and is the basis for many sensor models after.

Do you know if its possible to get 800 dpi to work on Windows 7?
