Im sorry, but I dont really get this. My english isnt that good. HW? SW?
Without drivers the GTX 970 shows up in divice manager under graphic cards as something like standart or generic. I dont remember the exact term. In safe and in normal mode.
As soon as I try to install the nVidia drivers, my screen goes black and I cant do anything anymore. If I boot into safe mode the GPU is listed as nVidia GTX 970 in device manager.

Problem:
With drivers:
In safe mode I cant flash because a missing service. And if I try to boot into normal mode my screen goes black.

Without drivers:
Still no service and in normal mode the GPU is not listed as GTX 970 in divice manager anymore and nvflash giving me an error massage: No nVidia adapter

HW = Hardware
SW = Software

Guy above was faster than me lol

Have you tried flashing from another computer?
post #2434 of 6471
This is what I would try next.

Turn off computer, unplug power cables from your 970 but leave it plugged in the PCIe slot. Go into BIOS and boot into windows using your iGPU.

Then try nvflash again.

All isn't lost as it's still seen as a 970 in safemode, but you still need another BIOS IMO beyond the 3 available in the package but that's another matter you can chase after being able to flash again.

if new hardware revisions changed RAM from Samsung to Hynix that could explain issues if flashing a BIOS designed for Samsung RAM. there's a lot of stuff not exposed in BIOS Tweaker, such as OEM-specific sections and RAM timings/voltage.

I think I've finally solved my "PerfCap: VRel, SLi" issue on Asus STRIX 970's.

I've surmised that VRel means voltage is dropping too much under load. Since this card was designed for 193w max, raising to 230 causes too much vdroop. Configuring a moderate voltage offset in GPUTweak (for some reason +60mV reads as +30mV) has completely eliminated VRel cap since the voltage going into the GPU will be within tolerances for CLK74. But once it hits VRel even once, for some reason in SLi both cards get stuck at whatever clock the GPU thinks it can get stable voltage delivery at. Now I need to tweak voltage/clock scaling tables to maximize clock scaling under heavy load.

I really wish the Digi+ VRM on these had a configurable Load-Line Calibration, and control over phases...

Edit: able to pull 235w from these cards now!

Did you do anything special for your SLi? Like forcing the cards to run at same clocks/voltages?

I'm asking that because I'll soon get another G1 for sli .

Tried that too and its listed in divice manager, but nvflash --list just shows me that there are no nVidia Adapters installed.

This is a nice thread which helped me a lot. But i can't flash my card. I've got an EVGA GTX 980 HC an nvflash tells me that I need a newer version of nvflash. I tried all versions I could find with Google, it's always the same. Any ideas how i might get my bios flashed on my card?
