Extract and Flash GTX 970 and 980 Firmware - Zoson's H2O and AIR Custom BIOS - Page 248

Hey guys

I don't know if it has already been posted in this thread, i did search after it but i could not find it.

I want to turn down my fan speed on my G1 gtx 970. The lowest in Standard bios is 1600rpm which is way to loud.

Is there a custom bios with this change only? or is there anyone who can tell how to change it my self.

there are 13 places i can change fan controls under Maxwell II bios 1.32. under fan control. But i don't know where to begin.

I just want to be able to set the fan speed WAY lower than the 1600rpm ( 34% )

I know, they seem exactly the same. But there are important things other than the editable values in MBT. Trust me, I had a lot of problems flashing different BIOS in my 970 G1 and the only way to make it work properly was to use my own BIOS and start from there.

I know it is a pain to edit all those values. But once you get the hang of it and start to understand what each value represents you'll even start to like it biggrin.gif

My 980 strix can do 1520 mhz on core and 2100 mhz on memory....
I truly dont need to flash bios for what?
That is max that can do.... Maybe i will get one more for sli and skip all 900 séries until next nvidia série ....

I also found that my 970 G1 can do the same max core and memory clock with modded and original BIOS. I believe it is something to do with this card already having a high power limit by default.

With that said, I still I like the custom BIOS because I felt that with the original one I was very close to instability, with the modded one I can give the card some headroom to operate.

Let me tell you what i've just find out , if you really want to stress a graphic card to know if its really stable. Then get the game called "Ryse: Son of Rome". The game is awful (worse than a kick inbetween the legs) but i've never been a game such as stressful as that. i mean, it killed any stability standard i've met before.

Heaven and 3dmark are nothing to that, Even Farcry 4 is not enough, When i thought it was stable. that game killed my oc.

It should be easy to get in any torrent site. or those sites you know what i mean. the game its not worth it to play but to test cards is great. Consider it the new Crysis standard for benchmarking. and its from Crytec too..

Ryse is very stressful indeed, I never got higher temps than when playing it. But it could have a nice benchmark in it, because the gameplay is just unbearable.

Yet, what really pushes my card to its most usage (gpu load, memory load, tdp) is Firestrike Ultra.

This is why I generally just scoff at people who are like 'LULZ I DO 1550MHZ AT 1.22v.'
In my 14 years of doing this it's been proven time and time again. If someone seems to be doing something impossible it's usually because they don't know what they're doing and are either misreporting, or they're not sufficiently testing their equipment.

I've literally had people tell me 'my pc is 100% stable! it only crashes like once a week!' and I'm just like 'lol, I haven't restarted my rig in over 90 days, and it never crashes.'

This is also why the GS and AIR bios are 1480MHz... Because that's really where I found my bad card was ACTUALLY stable on air. If we were talking 'just passing benches' my bad card can do 1579... A full 100MHz faster than the clock where it's bulletproof stable.

very true Zoson, i've never understimated your knowledge, in my case i just trying to find something really reliable to test things. Since these cards are really tricky when it comes to stability thanks to all the downclocking, throttling and boost / stepping stuff, you never really know when its really stable or not because its really hard to make them crash or have artifacts nowadays. At least with nvidia.

As lot of people already said, sometimes benchmarking soft is not the most addecuate way to test at least GPU stability, i know it may be more time consuming , but having a very resource consumming game its the best.
Ryse is sucking my card dry , my 4 GB of memory down to their knee at just 1680*1050 which is not even Full HD. 30 FPS MAX ( i know the game may be bugged but , still it is killing the card constant full load 99% and 3900 MB of ram ussage + no less than 80c on stock rom.
Stability on that game reached the 1410mhz on stock bios , and 1506 mhz on custom bios, anything higher than that is not realiable too much Vdrop too much temp.

Ati is a different stuff. For me ATI cards are more overclocking friendly but performance wise. well i always loved how nvidia cards worked. equal or more horsepower + Eyecandy still you have to Pay each cent for what it gives.
