Nah, I appreciate it. I still haven't even gotten around to attaching a heatsink to my VRM chips and its been months lol, been playing Fallout 4 fine but I use Afterburner to run core clock and mem clock at stock with the undervolt until I apply the heatsink I have. But I know 1.28 is a lot of uneeded voltage too, 1.162 was fine around the Witcher 3 driver for all the benchmarks and for hours a gaming

Hey !

First time right here ! Recently bought a GTX 980 (this one: a KFA2 GTX 980 4Go and put a huge Prolimatech mk-26 on it with, for now, two Bequiet ! Pure Wings 140mm.

i plugged the fans with the "Y" connector and they are connected on the card. First thing : Fans run at ~930rpm all the time. The fan slider in AB doesn't work. Any idea why ?

I would like to ask you a second question : How is the OC potential i can expect with this card (2x6 pins) and with an ASIC at 71,7 ?

Currently the voltage seems to be locked at 1,218 and i can't go higher than 1127+220MHz for the core, a night of loop of the second scene of Firestrike pushed the card at 63•C maximum with this settings (120% power limit).

I tried to copy the Bios of Sozon, air and reference but can't set 1312mv like he did. Can someone help me with the Bios modding ? Could be great to go higher. it should be possible with the Prolimatech !

GM204.zip 147k .zip file

Thanks, i'm curious of this new world ! ( coming from a Crossfire of 7870XT)

Hello. Welcome to OCN smile.gif

give this a try

GTX980-KFA2----Dark.zip 147k .zip file

Core clock 1506mhz & 3.7ghz memory & 1.250v & higher TDP limit & boost off..

for the fan's they should be PWM to control them from MSI AB.. but in general I recommended that you connect both fan to motherboard heady to avoid overloaded the fan controller on the card as the power draw on the stock fan's less than the new fans thumb.gif

Hey !

Successfully flashed your BIOS, it's currently benchmarking with the loop of Firestrike ! Will tell you if everything is working fine. Will let it run for a moment.

A question, with the Bios editing technique, can I go further with AB or I have to mod the bios to change the overclock ?

*SLAP* ! I forgot that the fans need to be PWM to be controlled ! So, even if I plug them to the motherboard it will be the same right ? They will stay at max speed ? In my Nanoxia case I can plug fans and control from the front panel, could do the trick for now (the only behavior is that is still manual).

The benchmark is running for 15 minutes now and everything seems fine. 67•C max temp ! Another question (sorry), is this normal that I can't monitor the VRM temps ?

Aniway, thanks for your quick reply and bios's editing !

Hello

Yes. you can use MSI AB to push the core/memory farther no problem.

some board will be able to control 3pin fan (Non PWM) its worth a shot wink.gif ,the only card has VRM sensor is the Strix from Asus but don't worry yo have 2 fan's over the card so it's actively cooled thumb.gif

Yeay, it seems pretty stable (still running) ! 70•C max until now smile.gif

What do You think is the next step, moving the core frequencie with your locked voltage of 1.25 until it's unstable and then come back here and report to try another voltage or I have now just have to change a value in the bios myself to increase voltage ?

By the way, thanks again for your useful answers !

What do You think is the next step, moving the core frequencie with your locked voltage of 1.25 until it's unstable and then come back here and report to try another voltage or I have now just have to change a value in the bios myself to increase voltage ?

By the way, thanks again for your useful answers !

Push the core clock until it crash then report back so we can increase the voltage to 1.275v thumb.gif
