Strip LED Dimmer

Thread Starter
Hey Guys.

I've nearly finished my custom build. I have 2 Bitfenix alchemy white Led strips at the top and bottom of a 900d.

I was wondering if there is some way I can control the brightness?

Preferably something in line and off the shelf would be great.

Kind regards

Tbone

Hooking them up to a fan controller should work fine. You could also try making a molex adapter that changes the voltage, like the ones used for downvolting fans. I have never tried this though; but it might work because people use fan controllers to control lighting in a similar way.

I don't think those will work very well since the LED strips are designed to run on 12V. The best way to control brightness is through PWM, but that's pretty expensive to setup.

The reason a regular resistive fan controller works is you can infinitely vary the voltage from say 9V to 12V.

I use a Fan Mate 2 to control my LED strips in my case. I sleeved the cables and double sided taped it to have the knob stick out one of those water tube grommets in the back of my case so I don't need to open it to adjust. http://www.zalman.com/global/product/Product_Read.php?Idx=206

A pci slot fan controller would probably work as well...
