And, 2100 x no. of shader processor, 2100 x 1664 (GTX 970) = 3494400 Mega Floating Point Operations per Second or 3494.4 GFLOPS or 3.4944 TFLOPS

1600 MHz core frequency w/ GTX 970 will be 5.324 TFLOPS.
There may be other ways also to calculate flops though.

I didn't mean that 280X is faster than 970. 280X can almost never be faster than 970. But there might be some very specific conditions in 1th% of time where 280X might shine a little bit, these may be related to compute. If not single, it may be due to double precision, as 280X has 1.0 TFLOPS of Double precision opposed to GTX 970's 0.1 TFLOPS. Though 99.9% time it will not be used in gaming.
Hence 99.9% time GTX 970 should be 50%+ faster than 280X, in gaming thumb.gif

My mistake; Nvidia calculated the FLOPs figures with Kepler using base clock speed, but it seems they're using the advertised boost speed for their stated Maxwell figures, from which I took the simpler route of clock speed %'s linear improvement on FLOPs values (using the wrong base value, however, 3.9). An 1150 MHz 780 has ~5.3 TFLOPs as well, an 1150 MHz 780 Ti has ~6.6.

My point was in agreement with yours, GCN has a more compute-oriented architecture that shines in certain applications, I simply meant single-precision peak FLOPs figures aren't a good metric for calculating "compute" performance by itself. Cards with similar peak FLOPs values can still have quite some variation in compute-heavy tasks like Luxmark and OpenCL for reasons beyond that value, in GCN's favor no less.

Did I say anything wrong ? Huh ?

What if some very specific things requires double precision ISA to be properly decoded or even just be decoded at all ?
Will GTX 970 be still faster ? Unless Nvidia magically enables DP in 970 which actually is never going to happen because of upcoming Titan II or equivalent card.

I ask you again. Have I missed somewhere in my calculations ? Because I am damn confidant about this, I am so confident about this that you can almost never disprove me in this topic at least.
Now before you call me an ignorant fanboy, read my post this from post# 265.
Edit: No offence at all. I am also ready to be trolled if Nvidia magically improves driver that results in 70%+ improved fps over previous driver.

SLI/Crossfire optimization & quality improvements
Improved GPU performance on NVIDIA cards, especially for GTX980/970 versions
Fixed potential crash when running the game in resolutions higher than 1080p
Fixed graphical corruption on nVidia when running in resolutions higher than 1080p
Fixed a bug that occurred on low framerate which prevented the door to open in Pax Romana
Fixed a bug that allowed Legendary difficulty to be selected with mouse even though it is not unlocked
Made CVar accessible to disable/enable force feedback on the game controller: i_forcefeedback 0/1
Made CVar accessible to disable/enable flash (e.g. the ingame HUD for taking beauty screenshots): gfx_draw 0/1
Made CVar accessible to adjust image sharpening: r_PostAASharpening 0…2 (values range from 0 to 2, default is 0.2)
Added support for high resolution timer mode to overcome FPS limits on some systems. Activate via “sys_highrestimer = 1” (without quotes) in system.cfg

Also, NVIDIA has just released new Drivers for a wide range of GeForce GPUs (version 344.48), which include a SLI profile for Ryse!

Still think it was a compute thing?

How, there is no tool. If you want to compare it directly with test done by one of the review sites, you're going to have to run the exact same test otherwise what's the point.

Was hoping someone with a 970 and a 280x/7970 could run it at the same level/settings that this benchmark did and compare results

ok sli for SOM.
100fps causes mouse slow down. actually anything above 80 for me.
fighting fps still the same as single card. drops down to 40-50.

Was there no benchmark tool with the game?
Someone could do it with old driver then again with new

Wow.... usually you don't recommend a CPU higher then an i5 for gamer PCs, and that 5960x is meant for video editing or compiling....

But holy crap, if there's a first-time justification for a $1000 CPU in increased performance for a game, this is it.

And well, it will be so because the consoles being weak 8 Jaguar cores will require multithreading of the utmost degree to effectively use them anyway.

tested that king chapter since everybody said its the most strenous. 1440p maxed out except no supersampling with gsync. 70-80fps.
had to enable motion blur as turning around.. looks like fast texture popins..

also oddly enough vram now only at 3gb..

i could have sworn last time it was hitting just over 4.
