Can any one tell me what is the best chip of FX 8350 that takes a low voltage to overclock ? - Page 2

Well, if that is so, it's definitely not installed correctly. I'm skeptical of that rating, but I would think an H50 (or even a 212 Evo) could do better than 85-89C, and whatever its merits, it's obviously better than either one of those.

That cooler is technically rated for 400w dissipation, plenty for an overclocked 8350. Not the greatest out there, but it would be good enough,
A stock 8350 draws over 350 watts, overclocked, especially at 1.4 volts, it probably draws twice that.

You couldn't exaggerate more, could you?

OP ignore this guy, unless he's talking about the entire system he has no idea what he's talking about.

I stand corrected, that's TDP for a system
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2012/11/06/amd-fx-8350-review/7

However, for the power consumption tests we re-enable everything in order to get a real-world power draw. The power draw is measured via a power meter at the wall, so the numbers below are of total system power draw from the mains, not the power consumption of a CPU itself. Measuring the power draw of any individual component in a PC is tricky to impossible to acheive.

I was about to say, my FX-6350 produces 220-230w @ 5.32 GHz (cooled by 2x 280mm rads *whips hair*)

I rarely topped 200W on my 8350 at 4.85 GHz, running 1.48v. To pull 400, you'd have to be able to overclock a 16-core Opteron to those kinds of speeds.

I think my 8320 at 4Ghz and 1.256v goes to 220W (full rig) in Prime95. If i remember correctly (which i think i do). It's about 180W at 3.5Ghz - 1.168v at Prime95. At idle undervolted at 0.8v, i get 64W (same as an AM3 CPU undervolted to 800@0.825v).

There are various variables. Motherboard's efficiency, how much the CPU leaks once overclocked, the power supply's efficiency...

Well if you have your computer connected to the mains through a watt meter how can you tell how much of the wattage is powering just the CPU?
