Looking for some racing games recommedations... I have DiRT 3 which is awesome but I forgot my gfwl account and cannot log in to save progress. I really want something looks nice, casual but almost sim like ( like dirt 3/forza).

Really want to play some to take advantage of my 144hz monitor.

Thanks

WRC games haven't been that good really, handling is really weird and the stages are a bit too wide and short.

There's not a huge amount around at the moment for casual racers. Perhaps have a look at Assetto Corsa, it is a sim but you'll be able to get used to it pretty quick. Should have a full career mode at some point in the future, AI isn't too bad at the moment either. Next car game could be worth a look too, but I've not played it and it's still in development.

I enjoyed WRC4, as it is only the 2013 season, it would have been nice if it was much more featured with classic WRC cars from the last generations as well. It does require a little tweaking with bot AMD and Nvidia cards, however once you get over that, the game is pretty smooth.

Here's my support thread from Steam

I'm making this thread in order to identify Bugs, Glitches, and Support with the current revision of this game. Wishfully thinking Milestone/ Big Ben or even an enterprising modder will see these and correct it accordingly.

I'm sure there are more bugs in this game. Please list them and have a verfied source that we can replicate. Please add your system specs as well. I will update the main thread as we move forward.

Why is this in the General Discussions forum?
This area gets the most discussions and attention.

Refresh and Vsync Bug
It's nice that we finally have an FPS selection greater then 30 FPS however if you set a greater refresh rate than 30 Hz such as 60 Hz along with Vsync enabled it will revert back to 30 Hz in game.

Solution
Nvidia GPUS
Enable "Adaptive" under Vertical Sync drop down menu located in the 3d Settings / Manage 3D Settings / Program Settings / WRC4.EXE with Nvidia Control Panel. Under WRC 4 Launcher select 60 Hz and enable Wait for Vsync.

AMD GPUS
  • Require's: RadeonPro LINK[www.radeonpro.info]
  • Add WRC4.EXE to the profile applications.
  • Under "Tweaks" Tab, set "Always on (Double Vsync)" Located under Direct3D Tweaks Box
  • Check mark the following: "Triple-buffering"
Game hangs on loading during Quick Stage and Rally Mode's
If you set your refresh greater then 30 Hz the game hangs on the loading screen after a completed stage during Quick Stage and Rally Mode's. The only way out is to press ALT+F4 which then prompts if you want to quit the game.

Multi-GPU Optimization
If your system has Nvidia SLI or AMD Crossfire enabled there is no noticeable difference in game play. Multi-GPU's are clearly showing load however if you monitor FPS with FRAPS or Rivatuner there is no significant FPS improvements.

No Sound after each Stage in Career Mode
Sound cuts out intermittently between stages during Career Mode.

Saving and Multiplayer issues
If you are having issues with saving your times after each stage or logging into Online play and recieving the following dialog:

Solution
You're required to create an account with RakNet in order to save and play online. Go to Network on the WRC 4 Launcher -> Create Account. A new window will open to create your account. You will then need to validate your account through your email address.

Also keep in mind to avoid emails from Hotmail, for some reason RakNet does not work very well with Hotmail. I suggest using a Gmail account.

I'm also enjoying Race Room Experience R3, Assetto Corsa, and F1

I enjoyed Need For Speed: Shift 2, it's a pseudo-sim. Played with a PS3 controller on PC. In my opinion it looks pretty nice too.
The sensitivity of the controls are a little weird at first but you can adjust them to your liking.

I would also recommend Assetto Corsa. It's a great racing sim for the PC. Keep in mind that it's still being updated. Lots of potential here!

You can make it work in an NFS game though try it in Assetto Corsa, iRacing, or any other simulator and see how it goes.
