Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 Question

Hello,

I have a question regarding Intel's Xeon E5-2620 v3 processor.

On Intel's specification website:http://ark.intel.com/products/83352/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-2620-v3-15M-Cache-2_40-GHz?wapkw=e5-2620+v3

Memory Types : DDR4-1600/1866 <-- What does that mean?

This processor uses a LGA 2011-v3 socket. All LGA 2011-v3 socket motherboards are equipped with DDR4 DIMM Modules.

I can only find DDR4 memory in 2133MHz or higher. Only DDR3 memory has frequencies of 1866MHz & 1600MHz. There isn't a motherboard with LGA 2011-v3 sockets running DDR3 DIMM Modules.

I am using this motherboard : SuperMicro X10DRi

Is it safe to assume that the motherboard will automatically adjust the frequency of the memory? From 2133MHz to 1866MHz ?

Thats simply what Intel rates their processors for officially, most motherboards will allow you to use the XMP for the memory that you're putting in, so if you put in 2133mhz, most motherboards will "overclock" the memory to that speed if you so desire, otherwise it will drop it to 1866mhz standard.

I've got a question about the E5-26xx-V3 CPUs or no? I'd love a 12-core processor for my work-station but if I can't unlocked and overclock then perhaps an i7 will work for a work station...
