The We Want our 840 NON EVO SSD fixed also - Page 6

With no real update from Samsung, I guess they aren't going to fix the 840 non-evo. This is going to the last ssd I will ever buy from Samsung. mad.gif

"Ever" is a really long time. wink.gif  What if Samsung comes up with something really super in the next couple of years and your new favorite company messes up about the same time?

Pretty obvious Samsung doesn't care about fixing the basic

How or what did you use to perform the "disk fresh"? Thanks in advance.

I don't know if you people with non-EVO 840 have read my posts on the other thread(s). It looks like there's a correlation with drive temperature. The cooler the drive gets, the slower old affected data is, or at least that's what seems to happen on the one I have.

Mine is 30C and still I had the minimum speed for 32mb/s. This basic one has the same issues and it should really get fixed because it is a serious issue.

With mine too at 30°C read performance is still mostly degraded. It is at about 50°C that speeds start returning back to almost normal. However I would really like to see if other are having the same behavior. It looks like there are contradicting reports.

I think not. I replaced one of my 500GB basic drives with a Crucial 1TB. Although a bit more expensive than the comparable samsung I think it's worth it.
