Silverstone SFX Series PSUs (ST45SF-G/SX600-G/SX500-LG) Owners Club - Page 18

My SX500-LG is pretty great. Its in a custom cooled HPTC with the GPU and CPU under water and for light tasks even after a few hours its dead silent.

With gaming it does get louder, but at that stage the radiator fans make more noise and the speakers themselves make more noise the anything. Only issue with it as others noted it the fan does not seem to turn off again once it gets going, at least on mine so usually needs a restart of the PC.

I did notice a tiny rattle for a small range, but tbh can't hear it at that stage..

Just chiming in on the SX500-LG, I too seem to be experiencing the low rpm galloping/chirp sound, while I REALLY do not want to rip the wires out of my ML08 for an RMA, I'll do what I need to do for quiet operation. Suggestions?

I'm about the buy this same power supply for an ML08 build and I have the same question. The only other option is the yet-unreleased Corsair so, how do we quiet this thing down?

The Corsair SF600 is out already via Amazon or Newegg at $119 more or less. I'd still wait for reviews before purchasing though!

So my ML08 build is currently without a graphics card but I want to leave flexibility for adding one later on. Will a 600w power supply be overkill, or is there no such thing? Does it only matter if your power supply is underpowered?

For 1 GPU, 1 CPU, 2 SSD, 4 fans a 600W is overkill even a 500W PSU will run that with overclocking headroom to spare!

Don't believe any of the PSU calculators online as they just push for higher wattage PSUs so you spend more!

This is nice and tidy if you have right resistor. At the end what i did is to use a fan speed regulator, from gelid and take the output cable to the inside, and have the regulator pcb outside plugged to a molex cable. This let me adjust the fan speed if i wanted. I'm using the NS PC-P with the Silverstone 600w and now the psu is dead silent from 1 meter away.

I think that 450w should be enought..

Quick question everyone, need a new PSU for my itx ncase build.

I have a 5820k, AsRock X99e-itx, GTX1070 FE, Samsung 850 Evo 500gb, 16gb ddr4

Had the 500w Sfx-l but was having dramas fitting it with my new 1070, so looking to switch to a true sfx PSU.

Would the 450w sfx be enough or should I jump to the 600w sfx?
