I'm aware that it was optical. I was an unfortunate owner of one a few years back. tongue.gif According to the mouse sensor thread, the G5 used the S6006 and the Copperhead used the S6018.

Better because of the tech or the shape? I know they both used an S3668, but I have no idea if the Diamondback's firmware was as good as the Deathadder 3G's.

Diamondback 3G was ok besides the 125hz and the squeaky clicks. Side buttons on the Copperhead felt much though, as did left and right clicks.

I really thought the 3G had 1000 Hz. Strange. There also was an original diamondback that had a 1600 CPI optical probably much like the one used in the Viper if memory serves me correctly. I forget though. That was a long time ago. I can still remember when Razer had different colors offered for the lighting on their mice and I remember being so amazed when the Lachesis first came out with 4000 CPI. Lol. I was a noob back then.

I guess there was no such thing as a no-DC firmware for it then.

Idk, I cant find any firmware for it.
I know the DA 3g should have firmware which removes it.

Its the one mouse that I wish Razer would bring back into production.

I still have a practically new blue 3g sitting in my mouse pile.

My favorite was always the Viper. If they had ever made one with side buttons I would be in heaven. The kraits, etc. that tried to take it's place had odd sides (convex) and weren't nearly as comfortable. The Viper was a masterpiece.

Thread Starter
Thank you all for the responses. I think I've been playing at that (now apparently ridiculous) sensitivity since 2004. Doing a bit more reading and now trying to back off of it and finding its not terrible, but I certainly have some muscle memory at that insane sensitivity. How low would I need to get my sensitivity down to to enjoy benefits of a good mouse / sensor? 800 DPI and 4 sens in game? redface.gif

Most pros play at around 1.5-3 at 400 CPI.
