I already did that earlier today I'm telling you it's my thermal paste. I'm using the best buy brand thermal paste aka dynex thermal paste. It's crap that's why I'm asking for suggestions on thermal paste. I even followed everyone's directions exactly put a drop of it in the center and put the water block on straight. I even put my rear fan to intake. But I might have my rad fans wrong though should they be in exhaust on top of the rad or exhaust on the bottom of the rad? Aka should the rad fans be pulling air off the rad and pushing it out the top of the case or should the rad fans be pushing air through the rad out the top of my case? My friend had the same problem with his intel Ivy Bridge-E rig that he built and used the same thermal paste I'm using right now. His temps wouldn't go down either then he switched to an even better thermal paste and he said his temps went down a bunch.

I'm serous I followed everybody's directions exactly.

Is this good enough thermal paste for getting up to 4.8GHz Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound

This is the thermal paste I'm using right now

Thermal compound isn't going to account for your temps being out of this world high.

ok should I switch my rad fans to be on the bottom of my rad pushing air through the rad out the top of my case?
Ok I mounted my good corsair fans pushing air through the rad and out the top of my case and my stock temps are now 41C socktet and 40.1C cpu.

Ok I went up to 4.5 and my temps went up to 63C socket and 69.6C cpu. So I guess I can't overclock without buying some better thermal paste right? Cause I've tried everything short of buying a 80mm fan and a new psu right?

Should I buy this to clean the thermal compound off my cpu and water block Arctic Silver Arcticlean Thermal material Remover & Surface Purifier?

This is the only way i could get my 8320 to 4.5 without cooking it as It was on air cooling, the fan on the back of the mobo is a really big help on these heat monster cpu's.....your temps are high, If you're not willing to start over then maybe your case airflow is bad.(20 fans won't help if the airflow is a mess inside the case) Take it out of the case and run an open test bed setup to see what your temps are then. I don't see how the paste is causing that much of a difference in this case.

I still think you need reset the CMOS and start over. Seems like you don't really have the required patience for this...it will just frustrate you if you do not slow down and allow yourself to LEARN through slow, intelligent testing. The H100 is not a piece of junk, it should keep that cpu nice and cool.

and for Christ's sake you damn sure better not be trying this on windows 10! Really? Come on, get with the program already!

I'm not blaming the h100i, I'm blaming my piece of junk thermal paste. I know if I had better thermal paste my temps would go down. The h100i is only as good as the thermal paste you are using. I have no way to mount a 80mm fan in my case by my vrm's. The only fan mounts I have are already being used up by either a 200mm fan, 230mm fan, 140mm fan, or 3 120mm fans. I'll admit my case airflow is also crap. I wish I could have a better case. All of you probably use arctic silver thermal paste right? my thermal paste is like the thermal paste you should be able to get at the dollar store.

Did you put your backside fan behind your mobo cause that's the only place I can put one if I drilled a hole in my case?

I'm going to try the thermal paste and psu route first cause that's all I can afford this month then I will try to fix my case by ordering parts from cooler master next month. I'll continue fixing my case the month after too. One of my side panels is broken. The 200m fan on that side panel is missing a fin but still running like normal.

The compound that comes with the H100i is pretty much the best stuff you can get. Theres no point changing it.

As for temps something definitely is not right. I have to push 1.47v through my CPU to hit 4.6ghz and my temps max at 61c after hours of stressing. I'd say the cooler isnt seated properly, even with poor compound you shouldn't be getting these temps.

How have you secured the CPU bracket? I noticed in the H100i instructions that it said to tighten the CPU bracket with your fingers. I ignored this and tightened it securely with a screw driver as i didnt trust it. Maybe yours is too lose?

Thread Starter
I'm not using the compound that came with the h100i. That compound has been long gone for a while now. Now I'm using dollar store type compound, I mean it's that cheaply made. I did the same thing I ignored what the instructions said and I always tighten it with a screwdriver just like my case. They both use thumb screws but I use a scewdriver with both. I might as well just put a piece of paper in between the cpu and water block that's how cheaply made my compound is. My max clock I've found for my cpu is 4.82 with 1.488v with my digi+ settings set to high and fast. I'm hoping the thermal compound I'm buying with change things. If not I don't know what to do except for save up to build an Intel gaming rig. Which will be $8,000.00

Well I'm going to go to bed for the night. It's 3:30am where I live right now.

I think my os is sending out the wrong info as far as temps and all that stuff. So I'm installing Windows 7 on my cpu testing partition.
