I'll take a picture when I get and put on my new thermal paste. I just ordered the psu from newegg and it should be here in a few days. I ordered the rosewill arc m450 psu. My next purchase will be the thermal paste and thermal paste remover/cleaner. Both are arctic silver. These will be my next purchase Arctic Silver Arcticlean Thermal material Remover & Surface Purifier and Arctic Silver CMQ2-2.7G Céramique 2 Tri-Linear Ceramic Thermal Compound.

You definitely do not need special thermal paste remover. I, along with most people here, just use rubbing alcohol and a paper towel - works perfectly and is way cheaper thumb.gif

Ok that makes my next purchase $7 cheaper. Now I can get better thermal paste. Now instead of arctic silver my next purchase will be this ARCTIC MX-4 (4g) Carbon-Based Thermal Compound

The reason the PC dies is the PSU can't handle it if not the CPU Overheating also.

Put the BIOS in STOCK mode for now, just do it. You can get up to 4.8Ghz when you get a better PSU and better TIM. Now either do that, or better be saving up for another CPU/Mobo and GPU soon.

Here is a decent PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182298

Now like i said, get some Artic Silver 5 TIM and that or better PSU and THEN AND ONLY THEN, OC up to 4.8Ghz! thumb.gif

Arctic silver 5 has been around for over a decade, don't get me wrong, I still use it, my syringe is old and I barely use it. But I do and it works, no 2 ways about it. But it's got like a 200 hour burn in time til optimal or somesuch? Have any of you guys used their MX-4, non-conductive with no burn in time? Opinions? I was thinking of trying it.

Can I at least have it at 4.5? Wow my current thermal paste is crap if I can't even run my cpu at 4.5 without my temps going out of control. I'm now back at stock settings. I just bought a psu the rosewill arc m450 besides if I got that I wouldn't be able to get the thermal paste. This is the psu I bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182296

I re did my power supply calculation and I'm only using 409w of continuous power when at 4.8GHz. So a good 450w psu should be fine for my system even at 4.8.

stock is too slow because I don't have the memory to take up the slack. When I was at stock even my videos were lagging. To run my pc at stock I would need another 8gigs of memory. Sorry double posted. and forgot to edit.

At the stock the 8350 is a powerful CPU. If you cant play videos at stock them something else is majorly wrong. How much RAM do you have? 8GB? Even if you had only 2GB pretty much any video would play fine. Having more RAM doesn't exactly make your CPU faster....

The only difference you should notice stock to OC would be higher scores in benchmarks and maybe a few extra frames in games.

It might have been my internet making the videos lag cause it only happened when I streamed videos. I haven't tried watching videos that are already on my pc. My os takes up 2gb of memory but even so I should be fine cause I still have 6gigs left right?

Arctic Ceramique is non conductive and as good as Arctic Silver 5. It's also thick, so you 're better off spreading it instead of the pea method. It's very viscous, so the pea method isn't giving uniform results often. Also, they sell it really cheap in big syringes (20 or 25g) that have official life of 8 years and being viscous it's really good also for GPUs or mosfets. You may want that. If you don't want to spread the paste but rather use the pea method, you should opt for a less viscous paste, like the MX-4 (it also may be 1C better).

As Dizz said, no need for Articlean. Just get 90+ alcohol, of whatever variant you have there (white, blue, pink)

Grab a bunch of these thingies for the ears:

Pour a little alcohol into a plastic cup or something, dip the stick into the alcohol, roll it around the surface of the CPU and the paste will come off, sticking to the cotton surface. The stick being small and flexible can remove paste remnants even from the sides of the CPU, small cracks between heatsink's heatpipes etc. At the end, take a paper handkerchief or napkin that is "uniform" in texture (that doesn't leave little residues behind) and wipe off the CPU surface in order to avoid cotton filaments staying on.

8GB are a LOT, definitely not the source of your problems and 4Ghz Vishera is PLENTY fast for any video, i run at 3.5Ghz.... Even my 2.3Ghz Athlon 605e eats through any video with no problem. Either you have bad internet connection as you say or borked codec package.

I don't have much left as far as rubbing alcohol but have a ton of paper towels that's what I use to get my cpu and water block clean. I prefer the pea method. Is arctic silver 5 as thick as arctic Ceramique?

I use MX-4 and i prefer it to Arctic Silver. Silver is a very old paste and it has a very long cure time. MX-4 is also easier to spread and clean when the time comes.
