When I overclocked my G.Skill 1866 kit to 2400 it took a few days of testing to find the lowest stable voltages and found that keeping D-IO .05v more than A-IO let me run SA with less voltage offset. How and why? I don't know. Hopefully someone can explain how they interact with each other.

sorry to quote on an old thread but damn its hard to get a straight answer regading this. seems to me that on my asrock z77extreme 4 vtt volts helps increase cpu o/c more so than ram... I can oc to 4700 with my 3570k with ddr1600 10-12-12-31-2t xmp1 profile 1 1.65v (in bios) then change only my frequency to ddr2400 with auto settings on vtt, pch, pll, and vccsa. on auto, my vtt voltage will increase as I increase multiplier and cpu volts. at 4700mhz it sits on 1.41.


im still playing with 4800mhz (keeping ram at 1600 for now and running vtt at 1.87 to get it to run prime for 24 hrs (with SUM and round off error checking enabled) and only had 1 WHEA error at 17hrs in on report log.... sooooo its as close to stable as it can be without being lol. the voltage I think helped a little was bumping pch a notch. I guess the busses need aligning or something voltage line related or some twaddle..


anyway. if ANYONE knows where theres a DEFINITIVE answer to these voltage explanations I will be you love toy for a week. ty in advance...

Yes,VCCSA and VCCIO are pre-haswell terms , now VCCIO is split into VCCIO-A and VCCIO-D. but if we understand pre-haswell terms , I think it'll help understand haswell terms. So first

im using an i5 3570k. exactly the hardware in my sig.

some say up your vccsa to oc memory or even get it stable at 2400 but other sites say it controls the voltage to MANY things and must never be touched ... and other opposite opinions about other stuff depending on what site you go to....

given its old tech now reallt I'm thinking there has got to be a GURU out there who knows electronics, is an avid overclocker and has laid it out in an explanation in a forum somewhere.
not all of us are semi-good. some are exceptional and I want to know what they knew when they had what I have now....

The info is out there search for old threads on this and other forums. Unfortunately not all threads agree with each other, I say just try what makes sense to you based on others advice/experience and if its stable and temps are under control youre good. There is no silver bullet with overclocking and you will need to invest the time to find what your rig can do.

On my 3570K I did need to increase both VCCSA and VCCIO just a few steps over stock to run 2133mhz, however increasing them much further would not get me stable at 2400mhz (with memory rated at 2400). IMC on 3570k is known to be a bit weaker than 3770k so you may be at the limit of your chip around 2133 or 2200 regardless of what your memory is capable of.

I just want to understand the voltages. I can get 2400 stable without touching vccsa. anyway I have a thread, don't wanna turn this one into a help me thread.
I succeeding quite well via my method. just expected there to be at least one electronics engineer or just a guru enthusiast who KNOWS what vtt and vccsa do 100% once you understand it it cuts down your timeframe right?
just like not understanding how to use your error log to find an unstable oc without having to wait 10hrs for prime to crash
