OMG are they serious?
Couldn't they use a large bluray disc or something?

Ill tell you right now, you are a heavy user, very heavy. On average most high speed users use less than 50gb a month.

Or you know, they could finish the game before making copies to sell.

This was my thought too....
I, personally, am not too worried about this as I have what I feel to be the best internet service in the country. I pay $70/mo for a full 1gbps up/down fiber connection that has no bandwidth limits (No, not Google Fiber, EPB which actually offered the full gbps service first.). I can't help but think that companies like Comcast are just begging for more of this. Them with their lame 250GB limits on bandwidth each month, or whatever that ridiculous number is now.
Just think, if you have a few games on Origin like BF4 you need to download and then patch with the expansions, you are plugging away at 20% of that total.

I don't do console FPS, but this still seems to be a bit extreme for a day 1 download. A couple of GB is one thing, but something that is likely to be the same size as the instillation is a bit over top IMO.
I hope it is worth it for those that have to do this!!

For those that have crap internet, this is going to take hours and hours. They really should allow people to download this ahead of time, you know? Nothing like rushing to the store to spend $60 for a game only to know you won't be able to play the full thing until the next day, or even later, because of a day 1 download.

Fiber FTW!! lol

Part of the reason Halo was so well received, aside from story, was the controls - specifically aiming. The level of control provided by the first Halo wasn't ever seen to that point, many considering Golden Eye to be the next best thing.

While still not nearly as quick or precise as a PC setup, it was super accurate and leaps ahead of the other guys. The original Halo creators stated in an interview years ago that the code behind their aiming mechanics was one aspect of the game that had the most work on it. They said they knew if they couldn't perfect it, the game would fail. So they dumped a ton of time into it, and what we have is a beautiful console experience.

Is that pre/post Netflix age? Still, I have to work pretty hard to break 1-200GB myself with Netflix and game downloads. I could see multiple people sharing a connection do it more easily.

Hearing someone that uses 700GB+ a month call themselves not a "heavy user" is pretty hilarious though.

Get an XiM and enjoy never missing in any console FPS game.

Also why are people still complaining about large downloads, it's been like this for the past year and obviously isn't going anywhere. If there's any complaining to be done it should be directed at ISPs. Plus, starting today anyone who gets the digital version can start pre loading, and before it starts yes I know people still like being able to hold a disc but lots of people also get digital and have almost a month to download it all.

In June, the month I pulled 1TB, I had to refromat my desktop twice. Each time, I redownloaded, WoW, SC2, D3 and a few games from steam. I then downloaded about 30GB of music from my itunes match library in icloud. That's about 200GB of data but it certainly isn't that extreme. Almost every time I reformat, I have to pull about 200GB of data from downloads so 20GB for a game isn't all that bad.

I'd much rather have the 20GB update than not. It just means they're actively working on stuff. Now, if I was really bandwidith limited, I'd understand why people would be upset with something like this. I would want to see a v 1.1 disk that incorporates the updates soon.
