H100i Replacement - Quieter and More Silent

Thread Starter
I installed a H100i in my new system the other day, and I'm finding the pump to be quite noisy.

It's not a rattling or chugging noise, but a constant noise that's louder than my PSU and case fans (although I'll have to say they're pretty dead silent). I don't think it's RMA worthy and I'm just being a bit anal, but my NH-C14 with 2x SP120s were much quieter than this whirring noise coming from the pump. Let alone a pump with no fans currently attached to it (I was trying to diagnose where the sound was coming from).

Now my question is.. is there an AOI cooler out there that has a quieter pump?

I'd like to pick up a NZXT Kraken X31, but I'm a bit unsure of the sound.

If not, I think I'll have to go back to a decent air cooler. Would like some recommendations on a sleek and unobtrusive heatsink.. thinking about the Scythe Big Shuriken..

Thanks.

Mine makes no noise. I've heard else where of people RMAing units because of pump noise. Seems like there are a couple that get by QA every so often.

Does your make noise without any fans plugged in? Mine drowns out all my case fans. I don't know if it's supposed to be that loud or not. I can't find a decibel chart for just the pump.

EDIT: My case fans lean more on the silent side by the way. They spin at sub-1000 including the SP120s.

Try and record the noise it makes and upload it on youtube.

The longer I've had mine, the noisier the pump became until it was the noisiest thing in the case. At this point, it's back in its box and a hyper 212 is in the PC. The cooling was great but it was just too loud.

Just about totally silent with the stock fans running 700 - 900. My Dell 755 sitting next to it makes 10x the noise with its 1 fan.
