Very Basic Question From First Time Water Cooler

I am in the process of deciding on what components I want to order for my new build, and I intend the new system to be my first experience time doing a custom water cooling loop, and I plan on using it to cool the CPU and GPU(s)

I've been reading, reading and reading on these forums for a while now, and while there is a tons of information in these threads, but there is one thing I've never seen discussed, and it is something I need to decide before starting to order my components.

So the question is very simple, for a first time loop builder, would you suggest I initially build the rig with air cooling, and then after it's been good for a month or so upgrade the cooling to a water cooling loop? And middle option would be to build it with only the CPU water cooled, but done with the idea of water cooling the GPUs once everything has been run a month or so?

Run the system on air for a day, run a few benchmarks for the cpu and gpu, confirm everything works fine, and then start your loop. Just do the CPU and GPU at the same time, take your time putting everything together. You should be fine, you don't need to run the system for a month to make sure all the components are fine, a day of benchmarking and maybe a low overclock just to make sure it works. GL on your first loop.
