What is your maximum budget?

What country are you in?

What will be the uses of this laptop?

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?

What screen size do you require?

What screen resolution do you require?

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?

What operating system do you need? (if any)

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)

How much hard drive space do you need?

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)

Is there anything else we need to know?

$650 is my max budget

U.S.A

Multitasking / Light gaming / CAD modeling work

Any brand is fine, I honestly do not care.

14"+

720p and above

New is obviously preferred but refurb, recert, etc is perfectly fine as long as its not in bad condition.

Battery really isn't a big issue, I will most likely upgrade to a 12 cell right away anyways. but 3hrs+ is preferred.

Only light stuff, Minecraft, TF2, Dota. (but I would like to play on medium-high settings at around 30-40 fps) BUT, I will also be using this laptop for CAD/Autodesk work so I need the 3D capabilities to be pretty solid.

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit would be fantastic, but I am willing to dive into 8 or 8.1 if need be, as long as its 64 bit, it has to be 64 bit.

The sleeker the better, surprisingly, I'm not really a sucker for the whole sharp edge "G@m3r H@x0r" look that many of the Alienware/ASUS laptops have. But beggars can't be choosers here, I'm pretty much going to take the best deal available, looks aren't as big a factor as price/performance is.

250gb is bare minimum. my preferred space would probably fall around 500, but anything between 250 and 500 is just about perfect. (SSD's are always a welcome surprise biggrin.gif)

ANY form of discrete graphics, I need graphical beef, no "Intel HD gwaficks sowushion" junk. The only way I would let this slip by is if the CPU was a high-end AMD A10 CPU. The machine has to have a minimum of 6GB RAM, and the CPU has to be quad core (dualcore HT is fine) and run at at least 2.2GHz, sorry if these specs are a bit stringent sadsmiley.gif

Bells and whistles are NOT REQUIRED here (LED lights, OC software, etc). I know the discrete gfx requirement is a bit over-the-top but I need it for this application. Keep in mind the biggest factor going into buying this laptop is price/performance ratio. (If there's 2 identical laptops, but one's new and one's a refurb, and the refurb is cheaper, I'm taking the refurb)

These are a few that i've been looking at so far:

HP Probook 450 G1

and the

Lenovo Z50

And honestly, the specs don't have to be exact, I know that you guys know what you're doing, and know how to spot a good compy when you see one, thumb.gif so just try and keep these specs in mind when looking around, nothing specific has to be achieved, I just need a good balance of price/performance and some good graphical beef to go along with it.

Thanks Everyone! thumbsupsmiley.png
