R7250 crossfire on PCIe 16x and 4x

Thread Starter
Will 2 r7-250s crossfire with one being on a x16 slot and the other on an x4 slot (electrical, full length PCIe slot) ? This will be an AMD APU setup on the X78 chipset.

My guess would be: Yes, but your framerates would not be smooth.

IMO, This seems like a bad plan. Why this setup? Do you already own the R7-250's or are you hoping for some sort of APU hybrid TRI-fire setup?

You would be so much better off just buying a single more powerful card.

Depending on what you want to do with this system. If you want to play games that require some horsepower, get a decent discrete graphics card.
If you're content with medium settings then a mid-tier graphics card will suffice, saving you money from the purchase and power consumption.
If you want high-ultra settings, you might have to go with a high end card, depending on the game, resolution and frequency you wish to play on ofcource.

Often, u can look for a decent second hand card on trusted websites that have lots of users that revieuw eachother in sales, like OCN smile.gif
The crossfire you're attempting will not yield high fps, and it really doesn't have anything going for it.

Sell them and get a 260x/7850/7870. 2 250s won't be a very good experience.
