Best 140mm Rad?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, ive had a look around here and google but cant find any 140mm Rad roundups. Going to be adding to my H240X and want to maximize cooling capacity. It will be mounted at the front of my case as seen below, In the future I want to add the second 290X into the loop and switch the 140 out for a 280 but for now its on an AIO/Dwood setup. (Need of a HD cage is my limiting factor ATM, but will be moving away from 3.5's to 2.5's side mounted in the future)

So are the Monsta ultra thick rad worth it, or will a 45-60mm perform similarly? Going to be running a Push/Pull setup with the DS 1500rpm fans. Just seems the Monsta's are a lot more money and trying to be smart about building here.

If anyone has any insight or a link to a Rad roundup, it would be much appreciated!

Thinking of the Alphacool UT60 140mm with two Aerocool DS 1500rpm fans. the Monsta is just too much for $92 vs $55 for the UT60

XT45 would do the job fine only minimum difference.

I finally got around to building up the loop, works great now, nice and quiet!

Looks good man! I'm a little late to the party but I'd say the UT60s are the best for Push Pull.

From 45mm to 60mm it adds 15mm of actual radiator. The Monsta rad goes from 60 to 80mm. 10 of that is rad, and the other 10 is like a little shroud for your rad added to where you screw the fans in. It is definitely helpful, but I think more rad is always better vs a little shroud.

But if you have the room for Monsta with PP and the money isn't a bother then by all means. smile.gif

How you like the fans so far? I'm considering expanding my Cm-240L and can do a 280 rad in the front of my case. Only hesitant because not as many fan options as the 120mm variety.

I only have one DS Fan mounted at the moment wanted to give the Swifttech Helix ones a try. But the DS Works pretty well and is nice an quiet top to bottom on my fan controller, recommended for sure!

Thanks, The UT60 fits the space pretty well. Will upgrade to a 280 when I can move all the HD's to my HTPC and pick up a decent sized 2.5" spindle drive. Temps on my 4930K hit 62 and 60 on the 290X when loaded up. Both heavily clocked...So im guessing water temps are probably in the low 40's. Ive heard you dont want to go above 50 degrees for the water, anybody know different? Im happy with they system though, much quieter than running on an H100i and one card on air.

do yourselves a favor and get a Alphacool XT45.
The 60mm is not worth it since most of the time it creates clearance issues in most cases.
Not much water delta temperature difference between 45mm and 60mm. Probably like 2-5celcius at best.

fans from 600-2400 RPM. Btw if you go watercooling I would focus on silent fans so probably look at 600 RPM - 1400 RPM fans. Most likely 1000 RPM best.
Higher values are better in these graphs.
