Noctua NH-D15 Question w/ G.Skill

Hi, I was wondering if the D15 would fit my G.SKILL Ripjaws X (I have 2) and could I put the fans in this position? (would I see any performance decrease?)

Here is the picture, the red rectangles represent the fans - Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

It should fit even though you use the default fan positions. You can also move the fans up or down for the RAM to have space. About your idea, you could only lose about 1-2C which is not big of a deal.

It will fit without any problems:

You will have to raise the rear fan ever a bit, but that isn't a problem so long as your case is wide enough.

You will need175mm CPU clearance for a 140mm fan to fit on top of Ripjaws X. That is based on the Rigjaws X being 40mm tall plus 3mm for RAM socket and 140mm for fan minus 8mm for motherboard to CPU surface.

Swim,

i have D15 with ripjawas X and i run the fan configuration like you shown on red rectangle, can't placed the fan to blow as the fan will sit too high above the ram i can't close side panel

this configuration so far been great, probably 1 to 3 degrees higher but the cooler is so huge it can take alot heat anyway thumb.gif

Sorry, I thought you wanted to run 3 fans. redface.gif

The cooler's cooling ability with 1, 2, 3, pull, push, etc. makes little difference, but case airflow changes may raise / lower cooler intake temp, which changes CPU temp. You might find the link in sig about case cooling helpful.

You will want to mount each fan on it's own fin pack. .. and you may find removing the rear exhaust fan works better.
