For SLIing two GTX 970's, do I still need cards with blower style coolers?

Hi guys,

I currently have the Silverstone SG09 micro ATX case.

I am hoping to upgrade my graphics card setup in the coming days. I would go with the GTX 970, but I would also want to run two of them.

The cramped nature of this case suggests that you have to go with blower style coolers especially if going with SLI. There are couple of models available here in Japan, one made by Galaxy and the other made by Palit.

I have two questions.

1. Does anyone know if the coolers on these cards quiet and would not largely restrict overclocking them?

2. Since the TDP of these cards is very low, do I really have to get cards with blower style coolers? Would I face problems by going with cards like MSI Gaming 4G?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

That small case?

You need blower style.

If there was a couple pci slots between the cards, then it's possible the open air cooler type cards could work
