XFX Double-D R9 270X tri-monitor flicker issue

Alright this is driving me nuts. So back in July I picked up an XFX Double-D R9 270X because I've got 3 monitors sitting on my desk and my old GPU (285GTX) would only support 2. Once I got the active displayport adapter figured out I was running all 3 monitors just fine. The 3 monitors I'm running are an ASUS VE248H 24" 1920x1080, ASUS MK241H 24" 1920x1200, and a Sony PS3 24" 1920x1080 display. Obviously not running eyefinity, just extending my desktop across all 3 displays.

So originally I had 1080p ASUS display plugged into the R9 with HDMI, the 1200p ASUS display plugged in with DVI, and the Sony 1080p display plugged in to the mini-DP port (HDMI cable from the monitor to the HDMI-> mini-DP active adapter. ) That setup worked fine up until about a month ago when the Sony monitor (the one going through the active DP adapter) would start flickering on and off like it was losing connection to the GPU. So Windows 8.1 would freak out and I wouldn't be able to do anything because all 3 monitors would turn off and turn back on (imagine like when you plug a 2nd monitor into your GPU how it "resets" everything before automatically activating the new monitor.. if that makes sense). I noticed that it would happen a lot when I would try to full screen something on that monitor (youtube video, open Photoshop or Lightroom, etc..) and when it would happen I could just unplug the mini-DP adapter from the GPU, wait a minute (while W8.1 went back to a 2 monitor set up with the 2 ASUS monitors), plug it back in and it would work fine for a while, but then it may happen again once or twice a day. Then eventually about a month ago it finally did it again but wouldn't fix itself when I unplugged and plugged the mini-DP adapter back in. As soon as I plug it in it just goes back to acting like it keeps losing and regaining connection with the monitor. The screens go black and are still powered on, but show nothing except my cursor sometimes. Once again, it's like plugging a 2nd monitor into your GPU when the monitors go inactive for a second before Windows figures out what to do with them. When the mini-DP monitor isn't plugged in, the other 2 monitors work just fine like they should.

I've tried just about everything to figure out why it's not working. I've switched the monitors and tried the HDMI->mini-DP adapter on each monitor with the same result, so it's not just one of the monitors that's causing the issues, as the other 2 work fine when the adapter isn't plugged in. I've plugged in just 1 monitor (each one) by itself with the mini-DP adapter and it worked fine, so it's not the HDMI->miniDP adapter that's gone bad (though I've ordered a DVI -> mini-DP active adapter that should be arriving tomorrow, so I'll that, but I don't think thats the issue as the mini-DP adapter I have currently works fine by itself). I've also tried plugging the mini-DP adapter into both mini-DP inputs on the GPU with the same result, so it's not one that's gone bad. I guess the whole thing could have gone bad, but it's too late to swap the card on Amazon. I think XFX has some lifetime warranty though, so if I can't figure it out I guess I could try and swap and see if it's the card itself.

Pretty much the only thing I've noticed that may be contributing to the problem is that when I plug in one monitor via the mini-DP adapter and a second monitor via DVI, both monitors work fine, however if I plug in one via the mini-DP adapter and TWO via DVI, I get the same flickering result. I also get the same problem if I plug one monitor in via the mini-DP adapter and one in via HDMI. So basically the only way to get the mini-DP adapter to not plug in and not cause the problem is if I either plug it in by itself or with one other DVI monitor. Any other combo causes the problem until I unplug the mini-DP adapter. Sometimes when I unplug the mini-DP adapter and the other 2 monitors work fine a message will come up (I'm assuming from CCC) that says "The system has detected a link failure and cannot set the requested resolution and refresh rate on your DisplayPort display. Your display might not support the requested resolution or there may be an issue with the cable connecting the display to your computer." Also, the problem only exists once Windows is loaded. I can boot into the BIOS and play around just fine with all 3 monitors plugged in. (It only shows the BIOS on 2 monitors, but it always shows it on the mini-DP monitor)

I use the term "flicker" loosely because it's the best way I can think of to describe it, but I know a lot of people use the same term to describe quick flickers during games and stuff, however when I have my problem all the monitors go black and "flicker" on and off like they're trying to be auto-detected by Windows, but it never fully detects it and just keeps turning on and off. If I need to make a video of it I can, but I've tried to explain the problem the best I can. Also, the rest of my hardware should be the same as it is in my signature block, minus the GTX 285 as it's been replaced with the R9 270x.

Thanks for any help, +rep for anyone and everyone. This is getting super frustrating as the only reason I upgraded the GPU was to extend my desktop across all 3 of my displays and for the past month I've just had 2 displays up with a 3rd 24" monitor being useless taking up desk space!

You haven't said which driver you are using and if you have tried a clean re-install of drivers.

Knew I was leaving something out. I'm on 14.7 and I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 when I switched from the 285GTX to the 270X. It also used to work fine on this driver so I don't think that's the issue, but I'll install 14.9 later today and see if it works.
