Overclocking Sapphire HD 7870 Flex 2GB, Voltage issue

I have a few issues. I have been using this card for a while and it works well. I have it OCed at 1200 MHz (memory stock at 1200, can't seem to get it any higher w/o crash-but that isn't my problem). I use Sapphire Trix for OCing, it shows the voltage as 1169, I usually run it at about 1250. I just noticed that when I come out of sleep, it shows 1169 in Trix. I have been having crash problems and I think that may be why.

I started playing around and I noticed that HWMonitor and AMD Overdrive both show the voltage at 1.219 (1219) regardless of what I set the voltage in Trix to. I have read that stock for most 7870s is 1219, but some come at 1169.

So know I don't know if Trix is actually doing anything. If it is, how do I get it to stop resetting coming out of sleep? MSI Afterburner has a setting to reset the voltage after sleep, but it won't allow me to adjust the voltage, even if I unlock that setting in settings.

I Googled the card and it says voltage can be changed. Any ideas?

Well, I tested a few things. My wife also has a 7870 (different make) and HWmonitor always says 1219 regardless of what I set the voltage to, so I am thinking that for whatever reason, 7870s always report 1219mv.

I uninstalled Trixx and installed HIS iTurbo, the voltage hasn't changed after a few sleep cycles. I have it holding at 1250.

I have a Sapphire 7870 Ghz Edition. These cards suffer from vdroop. Even though I have edited the bios and set it to 1.3v I get 1.2v under load. While running a stress program have a look at the VDDC In GPU-Z. If you want I'll edit your bios for you so then the 3D clock voltage will be set to the max instead of allowing trixx to control it. I edited my bios and now I use afterburner.

Ya, Afterburner won't control voltage, but iTurbo is working so far. I'll see if GPU-Z gives any different voltage reading than the other programs in later today.

It reset again, but I found a fix. You can edit an xml file in CCC and raise the voltage without any other OCing software. Works great. smile.gif
