cheapest stock type air cooler for 2011-3?

Hello,

I am planning to start a new build soon which will include an i7 5930k. I noticed that this CPU does not come with an Intel stock cooler. I was wondering what is the cheapest air cooler I can buy for this thing?

I have a custom loop but I would rather first do some testing with my hardware using air before I assemble my loop just to find out that something is not working correctly.

The cheapest I found is this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835119157

Please let me know if there is something even cheaper.

-Thanks

Try this one:

I believe yours is socket 2011. Normally I would not recommend this but I understand what your trying to accomplish.

The reviews on this one are far worse and its more expensive. Im looking for absolute cheapest. Im not going to be overclocking with it. Its going to be used mainly for determining DOA status

If all you're doing is to see if it's DOA or not, and have a spare heatsink laying around already, just apply some cheap paste and set the cooler on top of the CPU (horizontally), and press it down so the thermal paste will keep it in place. I wouldn't go past the BIOS or desktop in Windows like that, though, but I have done it with no ill effects. Any large block of metal on top of it will keep it cool at Bios / Idle loads enough to make sure it works.

All risks are on you, however redface.gif
