[kotaku]The Kind of Video Game Violence That Disturbs Me - Page 17

Meh! Can't see what the fuss is about imho. Would probably give it a go but not fussed to much. Unfortunately i can separate reality from games so i'm not likely to go on a murderous rampage. If people are GENUINELY shocked then..... Simply chose not to purchase. Hits the Dev's where it hurts so you can show your displeasure. Figure it will get "old" fast but what do i know. As for the "think of the children" well kids have been blowing away hookers in GTA for years!

Most of the time the parents bought the games for them anyway!! Don't like timmy wasting hoe's? Tell him to WAIT until he's old enough to purchase the game. More PC "you can't play/watch/do this because it offends someone else".... (In the comfort of your own home!). Not my cup of tea (looks kind of "mindless" imho). But if it appeals to some why not.

Thanx.

Ehh...

It doesn't look like that big of a deal....

I'll play it if its not $60, definitely doesn't look worth that.

I'd even put this beyond Postal, because like the guy on Kotaku says, at least games like that aren't supposed to be realistic.

Postal was toootally realistic.... Mmmmm Cat Silencers....

Same. lol

Gotta love the hypocrites on OCN. Amazing how they justify their choice in games though.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but I'd like to defer to the POSTAL games, a colleague of mine pointed out it's pretty similar to POSTAL just with updated graphics and a different play style. The level of violence and mindless killing is the same though, I mean in POSTAL you could use a cat as a silencer and that game was a success of sorts.

Why should I have to change what I can do in my own home because of how you feel about something? If anything blame the news for prying into the lives of the victims and giving the shooters the attention they wanted.

You know what should be banned? Racing games. They only encourage risky behavior and show children that their actions have no consequences. I bet a lot of the people who play racing games are under the driving age too! Where are the parents during all this? Not to mention all the PTSD people have from car accidents.

Going by that shortsighted logic, we should ban any and all genres capable of potraying reckless behavior when compared to reality. Which probably just leaves us with board and sports games.

I don't understand how people can stay "insensitive" with a game with no other objective but blatant murder. Unlike every other game with obscene violence they STILL had other tasks and purposes like story, mini games, other game modes, etc. Very much unlike whatever video game you feel is comparable. And its sick we find this acceptable in modern society. Can you think of plenty of non-obscure violent games on mainstream shelves with the exact same purpose of this game?

Contact sports are way too violent. It would encourage children to go get concussions. Checkers and Chess are too violent as well because the pieces dominate and kill each other, with the players lifting the dead carcasses off the board and placing them in a pile. It's savagery.

Isn't the point of a game to simulate something that can't (or shouldn't) be done in real life? Why should I be "sensitive"? Am I going to strap down preschoolers and make them watch me play this game? No. So who am I hurting? You have no standing to complain about what an adult does in their home.

Go fight ISIS if you are so concerned about violence. I'm sure Doctors Without Borders could use some donations. A video game is pretty low on the "issues that require attention" scale, and complaining about video game violence is just a cheap way of trying to force your morality on others.
