That sounds like a great way to defame the character of an organisation you don't agree with. Disclaimer: I know nothing about the devs. I just know how low certain people will stoop to push their agenda. Case in point, Ms. Sarkeesian's "death threats" that the police have no record of her reporting.... but it sure rallied the radfem troops on Twitter!

That trailer and game is hardly violent, hell FC3 seems more violent then this thing

Yeah, good point, I didn't even watch the trailer. But I'm not raging against it, either--just bored and haven't had a debate in a while. I feel this thread is perfectly civil and I imagine it will live if people remain on this level of thinking. If it starts to be just anger in post form then it's a goner.

The argument that's supporting this game all seems to boil down to "it's just a game" or " it's just pixels, no humans harmed during the making of this game"

Don't get me wrong, I have mixed feelings on violence for its own sake in ANY media.

I'm simply saying that some things are considered taboo for a reason, and they CAN be approached and deconstructed as long as its done with a little tact.

To use your analogy:
In that kind of situation, being within a game that is already as obviously and shamelessly violent would be par for the course.
On its own would be a completely different animal.
Neither of which necessarily makes it ok, or palatable, but it DOES change the perceived severity drastically

Context counts for a lot in story telling/narrative, though it cant actually change content or intent.

I naturally connect what I see on my screen to what has happened in our worlds. Please forgive me.

A book/show/tv you're watching/imagining something unfold, a video game you're literally committing/executing the actions. But hey, it's 100% virtual so no harm done. The pixels on my monitor aren't actually bleeding and I'm not going to jail so that flies well with me.

seriously it's a a game... although i will admit there is a shortage of zomibes, space mutants, and other shootable FICTIONAL things from games IRL...

maybe he is right and they are turning us into blood thirsty animals... or maybe he is in need of a warm cup of hot chocolate and a hug.

because it is. the game is made by members of a neo nazi group.

If you can't understand that what happens in a videogame isn't real life, games are not for you.

games dont work like that for me. when im playing them, im in that world. they are an escape to me, connecting them to the real world would ruin it. the two are completely separate in my mind.

havent heard that, can you link a source please?

As I stated before, I think the game is in poor taste but it technically has a right to exist. I won't be buying/playing it simply because it rubs me the wrong way, but if it floats someone else' boat then more power to them I guess. It is, after all, a completely fictional game and isn't actually harming anyone or anything.

I think what I disagree with most, actually, is that the developers didn't make this game because it's the game they wanted to make, they simply made it to see how many feathers they can ruffle. They basically trolled in C++.
