Now that you mention it, I do believe the second core is less active now. What concerned me was the combination of 74C on both cores, and both cores near 100% utilization - but I am hearing that those temps are not cause for concern.

Do you think Assassins Creed games are better for dual cores? I'll be getting Unity as soon as it comes out.

I doubt Unity will work that well with CFX, so it might not fully use both your GPU cores properly. It depends if their new engine will be AFR friendly, or if AMD provide a CFX profile.

Is your framerate the same after the temperature decrease?

I didn't notice any decrease, holds at about 30fps in Rome 2 Total War without any stutters.

Run a fps like crysis3/battlefield 4 or something demanding to check if the gpus are being used

How do you remove catalyst drivers, properly, when you want to upgrade to a new driver set? The last time I tried this I accidentally uninstalled my chipset drivers too and ****ed my computer.

Use DDU.

You're absolutely correct, in Rome 2 Total War is only using the first GPU. I'm not noticing a drop in fps but it may be there.

In Arma III, its using both GPUs at 100% and the temps are 74C on both - is that normal/healthy?

This sounds about right(from 2hat I have seen) but have you checked the 295x2 official owners thread?

That menu screen in Arma is all gpu load for sure.

I've been active on the r9 295x2 owners thread and have come to the conclusion that my temps are higher because I'm running a higher resolution than most benchmarks are done at.

I'll try a push/pull config to help save a couple degrees, but that will probably just delay the point where the card underclocks to save temperatures. Also sounds like this card is deliberately capped lower than the same gpu is capped on other cards, possibly due to the tubing not being able to handle hotter temps. An air cooled 290x won't throttle until 95C but the R9 295x2 will throttle at 75C.

Thanks again for all the help, seems like there is not much more I can do.
