Indie game Paranautical Activity has been taken down from Steam following the posting of death threats addressed at Valve's Gabe Newell from developer Mike Maulbeck. As reported by Player Attack, Maulbeck's game was initially highlighted on a Steam store segment featuring Halloween-themed games. Paranautical Activity was mistakenly captioned as an Early Access title despite being completed, to which Maulbeck tweeted the following:

But Can one really kill Gabe Newell? For PC gaming he is someone closed to God...

He kinda deserved it. He absolutely flew off the handle on what was probably a clerical error, and then tweeted a death threat to the owner of the company. I'm sure if he remained level-headed he probably would have been able to get it sorted with Valve. Instead, he chose to throw a tantrum on the internet about it.

Yeah it sucks that a few people might have momentarily passed the game up because it was incorrectly labeled Early Access. But even so, Steam is still the biggest digital distribution platform in the world for PC games, and you got a front page advertisement. Silver linings, yeah?

Guess who's never going to get hired ever again? It was bad that he freaked out but this is probably the most catastrophic thing that could have happened as a consequence. When employers google him one of the 1st things they're going to see is this death threat.

bought the game a few years ago on Desura for Linux. It stopped working on Linux after two weeks. He then went on to say that he/they could no longer support Linux in the comments section on Desura.

didn't buy a Desura game after that.

The guy is a douche, luckily the game was very cheap at the time and i did manage to get a few hours play.

This guy got what he deserved. You don't publish death threats to a high-level exec, especially Gabe Newell, the OWNER of Valve. Seriously, this guy needs to grow up.
