[BandaiNamco] Dark Souls moves to Steam from GFWL - Page 4

I had to patch Bioshock 1 and 2 because GFWL refused to allow me to save progress when gaming offline. And I had to do this for a long time due to sporadic internet connectivity. Even when I was online it would often fail to login. Steam at least supports local offline saves for games that get backed up to the cloud.

Also I haven't heard of anyone ever "loosing" all their Steam games due to patching/modding. I know of cases where accounts have been highjacked and the account e-mail/passwords changed to keep the real user out but even there I know of cases where Steam restored the accounts to their rightful owners.

+30 odd of my games I bought on physical disc and just used the serial number to activate the Steam license.

Its just from my experience with Steam vs GFWL, I have had minimal problems with the former, but game breaking/annoying issues with the later

I say good riddance, I haven't been able to play online GFWL for over a year now due to being locked out of my account. And even though I have a hard copy and DVD (As I do for 90% of my games) because that account has been locked I can't play that game with my friends, why can't developers take a feather from CD Projekt's metaphorical cap and remove DRMs I like the idea of a "Library" of all my games and not needing the disks but anything that forces me to bind it to an account strikes me as insulting, I mean sure some people will just pirate and crack games so what, that happens even with DRM if they can make a truly great game people will purchase it to get rid of any bugs that come with those cracked games. I use Steam only because 1. I have no choice and 2. as I previously stated I love having the Library of all my games and not needing the disk.

Since GFWL lost my saves on Fallout 3,I hate it to death, and tried to stay away from it..

I started playing DSPTD a while ago and had issues with GFWL logging in..
This is great news for me,I finally can continue playing DarkSouls!!!!
I don't mind waiting a month or two..

Good riddance!

Good, I will pick up the game when this happens, I wanted to buy it back then was it was on sale but refused to because of the GFWL requirement, I too had issues with it that prevented me from launching the game.... so freaking stupid.

I absolutly hate GFWL which is DRM oriented more than anything else.

It took me hours to get GTA4 to work and Fallout 3 eventually worked but i am not sure how i did it.

Everytime i reinstall my OS i have to do the same thing over and over again.

How many pirate did Microsoft stop = none

How many legit owner of games with problems= all of them.

I don't mind having to log on to an account to validate that i own a game. It just need to work.

GFWL is just unsupported and generally unfriendly to use.

So Microsoft the company that makes the operating system, cannot be bothered with making a game client compatible with their own operating system?
See windows 8+ and GFWL support, that's right it isn't there. I honestly couldn't believe how (to put it mildly) crappy GFWL and the support for said client was.
If it wasn't for most games being drirectX, I would have gone away from windows. I want more options for a gaming OS. I no longer want to be bothered with the windows environment and the garbage they are telling me I need.

This. Windows is dead for me if some day games have options on other OS.

Same, guess I was lucky, I had quite a few GFWL games with no issues, the only problem I was was a fallout 3 save got corrupted, but then again that happened on my 360, and on my steam so I guess it was more so the game than the client.

The ironic thing is, I read a while back something about when Valve first came up with the idea of Steam they shopped around for someone to build it for them. Microsoft was one of the contenders and they said something to the effect of "this cannot be done on the scale that you would need." Valve proceeded to build it themselves.

Lulz...

Can they fix the rest of the game too while they are at it?
