Gaming case to suit NZXT X61

Hello,

I am buying a new NZXT X61 aio cooler and a new atx mainboard, i7 4790k or amd 8350, 780 gtx, 1 ssd, 1hdd

I need a good Atx, full or mid tower case to suit this cooler and the other components. Must have good air flow that you can feel with your hands, unlike the gimmick cases I have had before lol. Budget up to $230 in Aussie dollars. Sort of looking at the brands of either, Fractal, Silverstone, or Coolermaster, not sure how good NZXT cases are in build qualtiy/air flow

Any suggestions?

I recommend the NZXT Phantom 530. It has plenty of room, nice cable management, and plenty of options for fans/airflow. It will also be able to fit your NZXT x61. I have had a few NZXT Cases and they have all been fun cases to work with, and have lasted well..heck I still have an NZXT Vulcan I bought 5 years ago, and its holding up great.

The Fractal Design Arc Midi is another case I have had experience with, and it too has a ton to offer. Both build quality and cooling options were great.

The main issue with the fractal midi is it wont fit such a large radiator according to pc part picker:(

Ill have a look at that case, NZXT use alot of plastic thou dont they?

Do you need optical bays?
Hmm bummer on the Arc Midi... I had one myself, and it was a fun case. I know it can take 140mm fans on the top, but perhaps the mount spacing is off.. could always mod it a bit, i know that there is enough room to fit a 360 up top (with some modification)...

As for the NZXT and plastic..the 530 has a plastic front and top (with mesh), but as for the extent, it isn't, in my opinion, over the top. The plastic was fairly thick, and the front panel is fairly hefty. In fact, I'd say that there isn't much more plastic on the NZXT than a coolermaster or fractal case.

You might also look at the NZXT H440, as that shows support for 280 rad in front or top. If you dont mind sacrificing drive bays, that case is really nice, and I believe has minimal plastic involved.

Well an optical bay would be nice, if not ill buy an external dvd drive. I will have a look into the NZXT cases, some newegg reviews say that the fan controlers flow up or catch on fire lol
post #7 of 14
Cant say I'd see how that'd happen with the fan controller, as its just a fan hub...but i'd find it kind of amusing if they did. My own experience was that it was a pretty nice option for hooking up the fans. I used it for a time with my 530. I tended to stick with my lamptron though, as I saw it was a waste not to use the more spendy fan controller...lol

Another option that I have been looking at is the Fractal Arc Xl, but id have to buy more fans for that case as they dont come with the best off cooling fans by the looks

Anyone tried the silverstone ft02, apparently the custom gpu coolers are no good in them, is that true?

Dont really like the way corsair fans clip on instead of screw on.

Dont really want a swinging door to be honest:P
