290x Overclocking strange issue

So I have been tinkering with my crossfire 290x (one being the plain reference and and the other being a sapphire 290x that came with bf4 similar reference design) and I am watercooling. I have 1560mm rad space heat is no issue, but when I try to overclock to 1150/1350 in msiab it seems to be stable enough at first with 150% power limit and no voltage change but eventually get small artifacts. As soon as I increase the voltage by any amount I seem to get a black screen and have to reset the pc. I'm not sure what would cause this and am wondering if maybe it's the amd bios should be flashed to that of the sapphire or both should be flashed or neither, I have little experience with bios flashing maybe that's not the issue and any help solving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the issue only happens once I try to launch battlefield 4, in regular 2d desktop usage everything is fine.

Normally increasing voltage would make it more stable.. Maybe try adding more voltage first, then increasing clocks? BTW 1150 on the core with no voltage adjustment is extremely good.

Okay I'll try that but that was my intuition as well, how could increasing voltage possibly reduce stability, it doesn't make sense to me. I also want to push these to their daily use limit given my watercooling hardware.

My screen appears and disappears again and again if i push voltage to +150mv and higher (no crash!!). Under that im fine, dont know why.
Seems that some chips may have problems with too much voltage.

Okay so it seems as though if I up the voltage to the maximum the card will still run fine, this is 200mv, now if i push the core past 1100 even at the max voltage I get instant black screen when BF4 loads up. I have been reading and many people say there are issues with overclocking and bf4 but when my gpu temps dont go over 35 degrees, I have a hard time believing that there isnt an issue, did I just get dealt a bad card or two
