Please, help me get rid of Synapse 2.0

Thread Starter
Hi peeps, I got an Orbweaver not long ago, and literally the only thing I use the Synapse 2.0 software for is assigning Shift to key 11 and Ctrl to key 16. I have zero use for Synapse 2.0 outside of those two simple key bindings.

There must be some way to do this without the dreaded Synapse 2.0 software, please help. guiltysmiley.gif

That is a tough one man.. Why are you trying to get rid of it exactly?

I took a quick look for you and it seems there are no standalone drivers for the Orbweaver.. looks like the only thing available is the Synapse.

What can do and I don't know if it would work... is try using the Nostromo Legacy Drivers.. they are stand alone..

probably wont work but worth a try..

You can contact tech support to see if they ever made stand alone, but I doubt it and I doubt they would really help you.

Sorry, there isn't anything you can really do.

I feel your pain with synapse, I have a mouse that uses it, and I would buy a different mouse, but its the only one that has all the features I want, so I'm stuck with it.

Though I suppose, technically, you could wire it up to a tensey controller, and then you wouldn't need the drivers.

You could try uninstalling synapse, and if It has a default input, you could change it via autohotkey, but then it would also change any matching key on your keyboard as well. ( used to own a nostromo, but never used an orbweaver )

Said this last night before getting told that I was griefing, you have to use synapse...

You have to use Synapse? Can't you install legacy drivers?

nvm, didn't read op correctly, thought it was in regards to a mouse.

Yeah, the Nostromo drivers, even if they worked for the Orbweaver, they're missing an entire row of keys. sadsmiley.gif

That is my problem. I would use something like AutoHotKey, but I have two other standard keyboards that I don't want to change the key bindings for.

Obviously there is a way to do it, but yeah...

I never tried to see if it worked.. but I was told if you bind the keys and uninstalled the drivers it kept the key binding..

My response to that was there is no internal storage to keep the setup saved... at least in the Nostromo.. is that how the Orbweaver is too?

I really hate their software.. I have the Nostromo and just bought a Thrustmaster Joystick.. the moment I installed the Nostromo drivers/synapse Elite Dangerous didnt response to my joystick anymore.. Uninstall Nostromo drivers and joystick works again.. Can't figure that one out either..

Yeah, the Orbweaver has no on-board memory outside of a switch for the light, lol. It's pretty sad, considering how much they ask for it. And tbh, mine should be the default layout, why they decided to include Caps Lock instead of Ctrl is beyond me.
