x99 Deluxe VS x99-e WS

I am at a point where I cannot decide between the two boards. Convince me one way or the other.

Reason for WS:
12k Caps, overall better reliability
Better power delivery to cpu for potentially more OC'in
2x sata express vs just 1
lay flat m.2 on board
Better matches my case
COM port

Reason for deluxe:
built in wifi and widi (i plan on using this feature frequently)
cheaper
better audio (which i use a lot)
comes with the ext fan pcb, which I will use

Can anyone shed some more light in either direction for me? I plan on purchasing by the end of the week.

the Deluxe is a standard ATX size and the WS is E-ATX. if you have a smaller case you might be stuck with the deluxe. the WS is all about connectivity and has support for 4 way SLI. if you aren't going to make use of those there is no reason to look at the WS. the overclocking will not be notably different between the two boards. it looks like the reasons to consider the WS are more superficial and the reasons for the Deluxe impact your every day use.

I have an sth10 so size is not an issue. I will however be using this as a workstation machine. I don't game too much but I do a lot of virtual machines and have a lot of storage needs.

This is not sufficient reason for having WS (and I have one on order). Deluxe has 12 SATA 6 Gb ports, WS 14 ports ( 2 eSATA), is this critical difference? If you have even bigger storage needs, RAID card is necessary for safety. Both mobos are even supporting Quad SLI. Thus, WS is justified from 2 reasons. Technical reason: there is a need for all 7 PCIe slots. Image reason: it will be used with horribly expensive/sophisticated components which just deserve the most expensive mobo, for example I will be using it with the top 8-core Xeon 1680 and 128 GB RAM, not even mentioning population of the PCIe slots thumb.gif

I too will be using a 5960x but with only 64gb, once price comes down that is. At for now I will only be using 32gb. I won't be stacking PCIe with a lot of GPU's, however I may be adding in stuff like raid cards and thunderbolt cards.

Plus I just like the thought of having the most expensive, nicest, most BA board. smile.gif

But still on the fence about it, I cannot really decide either way.

looks like you only need what the Deluxe offers, but you want what the WS has. biggrin.gif if you wanna get the WS it won't disappoint. just don't be the guy who regrets what he bought. it's a nice motherboard and if I was going X99 I'd be making the same choice you are. I'd likely take the Deluxe because it matches my build perfectly.

The WS has dual PLX chips aswell.
But thats probably only the realy big advantage of the the WS.

But if 40 pci-e lanes is more then enough for you?
Then the Deluxe is probalby all you need.
