Thread Starter
hello every one smile.gif
first i want to say Thanks for the awsome forums.
now let me get straight into it..
i have these components :
asrock z97x killer
i5 4690k
hd 7970 gigabyte windforce.. non ghz
8gb corsair vengence 2133 + adata 8b 1600mhz
both running at 1866.. not xmp
ocz vertex 120gb ssd *old build*

now i hear all time that dx12 is foing out nearly .. and my gpu will be useless bythen ?
not oced pc ..
any ideas ?
im feeling that my pc is weak ..
playing at 1080p 60hz..
do i need to upgrade anything ?
You just need to Overclock that 4690K to 4.5GHz the 7970 its a great card no need to change it yet if you play at 1080p 60Hz and it can also take a little overclock if needed to be with no issues, try to have the same RAM both 2133 cause with one at 2133 and the other at 1600 both are running at 1600 but not really a problem there the performance gain is minimal. Dx12 is not here yet so dont rush in to it thumb.gif

Isn't the rumor that DirectX 12 will run on DirectX 11.1 hardware?

You definitely don't need to upgrade anything but maybe GPU, and even that probably won't give you too much benefit at your current resolution and refresh rate.

You can do just about as well as a h100 with a good air cooler.

Man it isn't 1996. You aren't expected to upgrade your components every 6 months to game.

Other then getting access to some nifty Nvidia features (assuming you went with a 970 or 980), upgrading your GPU at 1080p would mostly be a wash for now. You'd likely see little to no performance gain in 90% of games out there. At best you'll be able to jack up a extra setting or two. At worst you'll see no difference at all.

A H100i really isn't that much better then a $30 212 evo. You'll get a little extra OC headroom out of it, but not $70 worth "IMO". I usually tell people you buy a H100i for looks, not performance... Like I did. The adjustable LED Corsiar logo is just pimped out looking.

Yup for Nvidia, not sure about AMD as i didnt look yet.
All i know is that apparently my old GTX480 is DX12 compatible so i should be ok...apart from a lack of performance tongue.gif

"NVIDIA confirmed that all Fermi, Kepler and Maxwell GPUs will support DirectX 12"

EDIT:

it was right underneath what i was looking at, doh biggrin.gif

"AMD also confirmed that all Graphics Core Next GPUs already support DirectX 12."

In my opinion one of the best air coolers today is the Thermalright HR-02 MAcho its about 40€ it performs pretty much like a D14 its not the prettiest though but who cares the performance its there thumb.gif
