8370E 8320E what?

Thread Starter
I am looking to upgrade my cpu. I have an 8320 and can't get past 4.8 Ghz. and it requires 1.57v. under load to do that.

I was thinking about the 9590(it's on sale now). But now I see there is an 8320E and an 8370E. What exactly are the 8320E and 8370E versions anyway. What makes them so different or special? Please help. redface.gif

What about the 8370?

They are the same thing as the other fx 8 cores. They are just clocked with lower frequencies and voltages. I would stick with 4.8 and enjoy it.

There is reason to believe that these E cheaps are very low leakage based on results ive seen from them.

get the FX 8370E if you dont mind having the same CPU with lower vcore and temps.
I had an opportunity that allowed me to switch from an 8350 to an 8370E cheaply.

So far I am absolutely satisfied. My 8350 worked great at stock or low OCs but would not OC to where I wanted it. With the 8370E I am hitting higher core speeds with less vCore. At the same time I am running 2133mhz ram, before I could not go past 1800.

It is the same design but it seem the manufacturing process has improved. If you can sell your chip for a decent price it may be worthwhile.

What Ben said.

Or you can look at the 9370, which is now really low in price. Sadly the one place that was selling them for like $190 (OEM chip) has raised their price. Oh well.

The 8320E and 8370E are both allegedly low-leakage chips that can run at X ghz with a lower vcore than can your typical 8350 or 8320.

The 9370 and 9590 have the advantage of binning, which means they won a higher prize in the silicon lottery than your typical 8350.

Either way, you'd probably see an improvement.
