I have read elsewhere that the FOV can be manually set in the GameProfile.xml file (C:\(User)\My Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4), but some people say this does not work, anyone here tried this?

Cheers in advance.

Last I heard, they locked that out, at least while in surround/eyefinity.

Not positive if Hayden has gotten around to releasing a fix, yet.

Dips anywhere near 60 are unacceptable to me.

Even on the lowest settings, the random huge fps drops are super annoying.

have you tried the affinity trick ? disabling and re-enabling cores while in game. Maybe the fps drops are not GPU usage related, but CPU related.
People reported the game to be working faster with HT disabled.
All in all, that's why I'm always gonna choose a single card over any multi GPU solution. My card ain't even flexing its muscles @ 1080p 60Hz and after the new drivers and 1.9 patch the fps drops are almost non existent.

Seemed like turning HT off sort of smoothed things out. Have yet to try that affinity trick. Got my Bushman though smile.gif. The Arena can be very annoying lol, just be sure to hold onto your Molotov's to take out the heavy gunners. Also make use of the limited cover and doorways haha.

I'm trying to download the latest patch for the game but it keeps saying download failed, check internet connection or make sure there's enough space. My internet is fine and I've got 2000gb of free space lol

whats up?

So I have been playing with the new AMD crossfire profile and it works well in places but it seems near settlements my frame rates/gpu usage plummets. Any ideas?

I know this is belated but honestly if you own neither, I would just play FC4 and skip 3 altogether. They're both huge, and both very similar games, but FC4 is just 'better' in pretty much every way. You will almost certainly 'get your fill' of the type of game that the two of them are ... just by playing either one of the two. And as mentioned they have absolutely no common story elements so no worries there. All the FC games are completely unrelated actually.

FC2 pretty much blew, but FC the original was a milestone game at the time, the first 'big time' DX9 title, it blew everyone away. I'd still tell anyone ... it's a game worth playing. It's a pretty epic adventure, storyline isn't like Half-Life 2 great or anything but it's solid, gunplay is still fun, it's challenging but not TOO challenging, lots of cool/creepy environments, and you can get it for next to nothing.

Where can I find this game at a reasonable price? I'd like to give it a go.

Thanks

So what you're basically saying is you don't want any game to actually push the hardware? You want non-graphically demanding games that can run at really high frame rates instead?

To each his own I guess. Personally if I spend a couple of grand on a high end gaming PC I want to see games that really push it to it's limits, not games that I could easily run on a sub-$1,000 budget system.

Optimized > Pseudo-Pushing HW games that are just console games with PC afterthoughts thus garbage optimization. Ubisoft still havent figured out SLI or Crossfire.
