[PC Gamer/CVG] Assassin's Creed Unity system requirements rumoured to be steep[Confirmed] - Page 3

This is another shadow of mordor kind of deal. They over compensate for no reason. Unless its optimized like dead rising 3 then maybe...

Now that I am thinking about it that is a little ironic considering both Xbone and PS4 run AMD setups....

Huh? I run Black Flag perfectly well on my dual 290's in Eyefinity with triple 1080p monitors. Like, max settings and 60FPS. Unless you're referring to a different game? Remember, the consoles have very weak GPU's...the fastest (PS4) being comparable to a 7870.

You really think that if the consoles can do it with a 7870 that a 290 can't?

These recommendations are either fake or way over inflated to make the game seem more graphically intense than it really is. I predict that with my system Eyefinity or 4K will totally be possible.

It's most likely more 'recommended' than 'minimum', I'm guessing. Just because they throw a demanding AA setting in the graphics options doesn't mean you have to have it enabled to play the game, so, I'm willing to bet cards below a 680 will run it just fine.

I was running a single 290 on a single 1080p screen at the time and initially I was unable to run the game with all the bells and whistles. I forget exactly what it was that I had to turn down in order to get it to run consistently because it has been months since I last played it. I would load it up but my PC is in pieces since I blew up the fan driver on my board and it seems to not want to turn on anymore. Either way I remember the game running better on nvidia cards than AMD of comparable power.

The consoles as always are weaker but they are also a known quantity and can be optimized as such which is why they will usually offer better performance at a given setting.

Eh, if consoles can do it with a low end gpu and a mobile cpu then those specs seem way off.

Shouldn't this be posted under "Rumors and Unconfirmed" articles? The first sentence of the article....

Again, I personally didn't have any problems. YMMV!

I know this. However, so far, the consoles have been doing about what I, or anyone else, would expect them to be doing considering the hardware. If the consoles can run Unity then a GPU like the 290 (which is like 3x faster than a 7870) will have no problems running the game. Optimized or not you aren't getting anything close to 290 performance from something like a PS4 or X1. Not to mention your PC has a CPU that's like 3x faster than what's in the consoles as well (if not more).

So yeah...if the consoles can do it then a PC with your specs will have NO problems...console optimizations be damned!

My point exactly.

How consoles can run things has no correlation to how the PC version will run. You'd think in 2014 people would stop making that argument.

considering 680 is regraded as a mid-end card to many OCN members, a mid-range card from the last architecture as a minimum spec isn't THAT ridiculous....

290x (current AMD flagship) as the recommended should be the one that's getting you to raise an eyebrow.
