Hey,

I just bought a zowie FK1 but i have a problem with it
frown.gif
. After lifting the mouse and putting it back down it often stops tracking for up to 15 seconds. Pretty much unusable for gaming
frown.gif
, is their anything i can do about this? I already changed LOD to original mode because i had tracking problems (i have no mousepad), those are solved by using original mode.

Thanks

That's REALLY weird. I'm glad the mouse still functions on a soft pad, but that's really strange.

It's well known that LED optical mice don't like inconsistent surfaces like a desk. That's more the realm of the laser illuminated mouse zone, but I've never seen a mouse hesitate like that after tracking fine and being lifted. Maybe a high reflection on the desk?

yeah, because of the delay i first thought that maybe it was windows 8 being weird.

But it's indeed probably my desk. It's wood with a cheap plastic layer on it in wood colors. But the wood colors are a bit worn off on the place where my mouse is and there are some white spots where the paint is completely gone. And it's also a very smooth surface.
Seems like the mouse doesn't like white

, it doesn't work at all on a white paper.

No... It hates light colors all together. Black is the way to go... The blue pattern from the Talent hasn't caused me any issues, so that's good too.

I don't doubt that the 3310 sensor could track well on black cloth mousepads, but I'm curious to see how it would track on not so dark surfaces, such as medium red or medium gray. Would these lighter surfaces raise the LOD while increasing tracking fidelity versus black or other darker surfaces, assuming that everything else regarding reflection of light would be equal?

My current mousepad is the Razer Destructor V1 , it is grey in colour and tracks perfectly fine. Albeit , there's 1 or 2 times when I sat it on a "sweet spot" where the mouse didnt move and on screen i can see it jitter , but its very rare and don't seem to happen when I game so i'm fine with it. Probably caused by the visible wear and tear after years of using it , cleaning and so on.

That looks like a good hard mouse pad:

How is its texture? Is it too smooth/worn/uniform in that sweet spot? Does the sweet spot not allow for optical mice to differentiate their frames to determine accurate movement?

Is the mousepad too shiny, or does it have glitter or whatever? I don't know why someone thought that glitter would be good for my mousepad...

The texture on that "sweet spot" can be seen if I reflect light onto it , it's worn down and could be felt like its smoother than other part of the pad , moreover the hardpad is already very smooth , lol. I have the QcK Mass and it definitely has more friction than the Destructor. Also , the worn patch of the Destructor still tracks fine , if not , perfectly. It just so happen that i left it on a certain point of the spot that it jitters while the mouse isn't moving at all. But not biggie for me though , since I've already use it for almost 3-4 years , with 1k+ hours on my previous FPS game , 2.3k hours on CSGO , entirely on this mousepad.

And yes , it has glitter's all over it , lol , but it doesnt seem to have came off and stick onto everything it touches , not that I've noticed at least. Not shiny at all , or probably because I play in a dim environment , but I honestly don't think that it's shiny at all.
